Wednesday Night Fellowship
On February 8th, our own Holly Cagle will be teaching us ways to move our bodies through the art of dance! Dancing is a great physical and spiritual d iscipline that decreases stress and increases flexibility and well being.  Her instruction will be geared to all ages and ability, so dress comfortable to move and don't by shy!  Please note that Peter Bynum's Deuteronomy Study will not meet on 2/8 , as he will be attending an annual Presbyterian pastor's conference.
After dinner, elementary age children are invited to attend choir or remain with their parents. Middle School and High School age youth will have Fellowship time with Rachel Vogado.  Please remember to make your reservations by noon Monday.   Menu:  beef and chicken stroganoff with egg noodles, brussel sprouts, fruit, salad, dessert.  Kid's table:  chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, applesauce.
SOUPer Bowl of Caring Sunday
This Sunday, look for youth in the Narthex following the services with soup pots ready to receive your donation of money or canned goods that will support a local hunger-relief organization. Together, let's change the game and tackle hunger!
Save the Date!
Meal Packing Event
Sunday, February 26th
3:00 - 5:00 p.m . in Davis Hall
Come and spend time with your church family and participate in a fun, intergenerational, hands-on mission event suitable for all ages.  If you are a senior adult, a little younger adult..., a youth or a child, we have a job for you and we need your help. We need 40 to 50 volunteers to pack 10,152 meals during a two-hour packaging event.   The process is so refined that one volunteer can usually package 150 meals per hour.  For planning purposes it is helpful if you can let us know you plan to participate by February 20th.  However, if you plans change after this date, please come!
If you are called to help in a monetary way, the church is accepting donations to cover the cost of the meals we pack.  You can make a donation online or write a check payable to FPC and write "Stop Hunger Now" in the memo line.  We will also have a basket at the event.
Recommendations for Church Officers
The congregation is invited to make recommendations of church members to serve a 3-year term on the Session or Board of Deacons beginning in June 2017.
For  BOARD OF DEACONS candidates , think of members who have gifts for congregational care and passion for community outreach.  Alongside the pastors, deacons are spiritual leaders who provide spiritual care and other help to the people of our congregation.  They also organize and carry out mission work in the community and beyond.  They welcome and greet visitors, assist in worship and help to assimilate new members in the church. Deacons also organize fellowship activities in the congregation.
For SESSION candidates, think of members who are committed disciples of Jesus Christ who possess the wisdom and discernment to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit.  Elders on the Session oversee all work of the church, including administrative, budgetary and personnel matters; building and grounds maintenance; worship, music and sacraments; Christian education programs; stewardship and giving; and many other issues related to our mission and ministries.  Working hand in hand with the "teaching elders" (i.e., ministers of word and sacrament), ruling elders make decisions that seek to follow the will of God in all of these matters.  In accordance with the Book of Order, the Session also has oversight over the work of the Board of Deacons.
The Congregational Nominating Committee will meet on February 9th to consider names for nominees for the Classes of 2020.  Please email your suggestions to Deborah Mesimer by Monday, February 6th.
