Visit Sycamore Island this weekend

Sycamore Island opens for fishing and outdoor recreation this Saturday, February 4, at 6:00 am. The property is a great place for families to fish, bird watch, hike, run, kayak, canoe, picnic, ride mountain bikes, or simply relax and take in the beauty of the San Joaquin River.

Click here for more info including hours of operation and directions.

Thank you to all the runners, walkers, volunteers, and spectators that participated in the first 5k/10k race at Sycamore Island in January. A special thank you goes out to Nathaniel Moore of San Joaquin Running for putting together such a fantastic event. The cool foggy morning didn't deter 250 participants from enjoying a nice run on the property.  Click here to check out a video of the event created by River Parkway Trust Board Member Ryan Commons.

It's time to Party for the Parkway

Tickets for the 25th Annual Parties for the Parkway Kickoff event are now available! Click here to make your reservation now.

The Kickoff Party is your first opportunity to make reservations for one or more of the 50 parties in the 2017 season. You'll also enjoy wine, beer, food and dessert from an array of local vendors.

Join us tomorrow night, February 2,  from 5 - 9 pm, at Jewel FM Gallery, for the Artists' Reception honoring the 2017 Parties season's generous artists. You can view the donated art, make your starting bids, and mingle with friends of the River Parkway Trust. Thank you to Jewel FM Gallery for hosting this special ArtHop event. Jewel FM Gallery is located at 1415 Fulton St in Downtown Fresno.

Habitat enhancement at Spano River Ranch

Thank you to the 75 volunteers who participated in the January River Stewards work day. Thanks to the support of local students, Girl Scouts, and individuals, we planted 1,200 native plants at Spano River Ranch.

You are invited to come get your hands dirty with us at the next River Stewards workday on  Saturday, February 18, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm . This is a "drop in" opportunity and all tools are provided.

Take a nature walk

It's a wonderful time of year to get outside and explore the wild and wonderful natural world of the San Joaquin River Parkway. The River Parkway Trust's nature walk program will take you to places not yet open to the public.

Our nature walks are typically 2 to 4 miles in length on fairly level ground. Most walks are appropriate for families with children 7+ but be sure to check specific recommendations for each hike.
