Every year, the City of Rancho Cordova's Public Works Department completes a number of construction projects in our community.
These projects beautify Rancho Cordova and ensure the City has walkable and connected neighborhoods and safe routes for residents, bikers, and drivers. Tour our new, online map to see projects that are under construction, ongoing, completed, and planned at

Rancho Cordova Traffic Management Center Project
The project will connect traffic signals on major City roadway corridors to ensure traffic flows more smoothly. This will also allow the City to respond more efficiently to traffic incidents. The project is anticipated to be completed by Summer 2017.
Rancho Cordova Justinian Drive at Sunrise Boulevard Signalization Project
The project will install a new traffic signal at the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Justinian Drive near the Anatolia neighborhood. The project will also create safe routes to Heron Landing Park, a new community park under construction near the intersection. The project is anticipated to be completed by Summer 2017.
Rancho Cordova Folsom Boulevard Fence Replacement Project
This project, supported by the City's Community Enhancement Fund, will include a new masonry wall, and it will also beautify a main entrance to the Walnut Wood neighborhood, as well as a main corridor used frequently by pedestrians, bikers and drivers. It also includes the installation of two artistic murals on the new wall.

Making a Promise
Applications are now being accepted for the Folsom Lake College/Rancho Cordova College Promise program! Members of the high school graduating class of 2017 who are Rancho Cordova residents can apply for this innovative scholarship program that will allow them to attend their first year of Folsom Lake College completely fee-free. Eligible students will receive funding that can be applied toward tuition and fees, textbooks, or class materials.
The initial funding for the Folsom Lake College/Rancho Cordova College Promise program was provided by the City of Rancho Cordova's Community Enhancement Fund.

Community Enhancement Fund Grant Applications Open Soon
The Community Enhancement Fund Fiscal Year 2017/2018 grant application period will be open from February 15, 2017 through March 15, 2017. During this time, the City will be accepting applications from individuals, organizations, businesses, and community partners who are interested in enhancing our community.

The City of Rancho Cordova has launched a new, online map to showcase how Community Enhancement Fund grants are being spent. More than 60 projects received funding during the 2016/2017 fiscal year. The City Council reviewed the grant applications with a focus on improving public safety, quality of life, community pride, civic engagement, arts and culture, and children and youth programs. The City of Rancho Cordova's Community Enhancement Fund is supported by Measure H, a half-cent sales tax approved by Rancho Cordova voters in November 2014. The program generates approximately $6.8 million annually.

Museum Day
On Saturday, February 4th, participating local museums in the Sacramento area will offer free or half-priced admission from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. during the 19th annual Sacramento Museum Day! With more than 25 museums and destinations, from the California Museum to the Sacramento Zoo, there's something for everyone.
Rancho Cordova's own Sacramento Children's Museum will also offer FREE admission from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.! Stop by the Sacramento Children's Museum, 2701 Prospect Park Drive, for a fun, interactive day of learning. The museum is designed for infants to eight-year-olds with exciting exhibits such as Mr. Noodles' Forest, Gear Up, Solar Car Racers, and more.

Neighborhood Clean-Ups
Residents from the Anatolia neighborhood are organizing neighborhood clean-ups throughout the year - with a little help from the City of Rancho Cordova. Last month, Craig Osborn of the Anatolia Homeowners Association reached out to the City and requested materials to aid neighbors in their clean-up event.
"The January storms scattered quite a bit of debris. With equipment provided by the City, we cleaned stretches of Sunrise Boulevard and several of the major streets within our neighborhood. As a result of these neighbors' efforts, our neighborhood is looking better - for us, our visitors, and pass-through traffic along Sunrise," said Craig Osborn.

Hometown Hero Grant
It's time to apply for the Hometown Hero Grant! Every year, the
Rancho Cordova Rotary Club Charitable Foundation (RCRCCF) will grant an individual or organization funding to complete their proposed idea to enhance Rancho Cordova schools, parks, playgrounds, or programs. The proposed funding for the Hometown Hero Grant will be approved for each fiscal year by the RCRCCF Board of Directors, and this year, $3,500 is available.
Applications are due by March 15, 2017.

Mills Middle School Wins Statewide Anti-Bullying Honor
Go Mustangs! Mills Middle School has been named by the Lozano Smith Foundation as one of the best schools in California for preventing bullying and creating a safe learning environment, earning a premier-level award.
"Our District could not be prouder of Mills Middle and the dedication of its students, staff, and families to contribute to a safe, positive climate for all learners," said Daniel Thigpen, Director of Communication and Community Engagement for Folsom Cordova Unified School District. "Their recognition honors years of research-based efforts that continue to show dramatic results."
Mills will receive $1,500 as part of its recognition. The Rancho Cordova middle school was honored for its creation of a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team, which consists of teachers, administrators, parents, and a student leader, who create a positive school climate and take a proactive approach to discipline and bullying prevention.

Calling All Vietnam Veterans
Were you an active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975? If your answer is yes, then the City of Rancho Cordova wants to hear from you!
The City of Rancho Cordova will honor all Vietnam War-era Veterans with a recognition event on Thursday, March 30th from 7 - 8 p.m., at Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive.
"Recognizing our Vietnam War-era veterans is long overdue," said Council Member Robert J. McGarvey, who is leading the effort. "We want to let Vietnam veterans and their families know that we appreciate their service and sacrifice to our nation. The lapel pin says it all: 'Vietnam War Veteran,' 'A Grateful Nation Thanks and Honors You.'"

Sports Hall of Fame Nominations Open
Rancho Cordova's legendary sports history is celebrated annually with inductions to the Rancho Cordova Sports Hall of Fame, and nominations for this prestigious award are now open!
Organized by the Rancho Cordova Athletic Association, nominations for the Sports Hall of Fame honor outstanding achievements in the categories of athletes, coaches, and "Heart of a Champion."
Nominations for this year's class of extraordinary sports figures will close March 31st and the event will be held this fall on October 14th. Submit a Nomination

Partnership with Hacker Lab
The City of Rancho Cordova is excited to partner with
Hacker Lab
on a feasibility study to determine whether Rancho Cordova would be a good community for a Hacker Lab location.
Hacker Lab is a Sacramento-based co-working space for entrepreneurs and makers that offers education and training classes, as well as community mentorships for startups, designers, and students. Their current locations are in downtown Sacramento and Rocklin.
The cost of the feasibility study is supported by the
City's Community Enhancement Fund
