Sexuality Studies  is an interdisciplinary  field devoted to the analysis of human sexuality. It explores the historical, political, biological, cultural, sociological, educational, legal, health, aesthetic, and psychological contexts of human sexuality. The  major   pays particular attention to processes and practices of normalization in different cultures and times through which certain sexual behaviors, expressions, or identities are esteemed and others devalued. It also investigates the ways in which sexuality is shaped by other social differences such as race, gender, class, disability, religion, nationality, and ethnicity.  Students select a focus area from one of the following: Adolescent Sexuality, Counseling, Education, Health, History, Intersecting Identities, LGBTQ, Sociology, Women, or an area developed in consultation with the coordinator.  The major draws from diverse areas including anthropology, art education, classics, comparative studies, English, history, psychology, sociology, and women's, gender, and sexuality studies.  Students may also elect to pursue a  minor .  To learn more, contact the program coordinator  Joe Ponce  at [email protected].

Prepare for the Spring Career Fair

With so many great opportunities available it is critically important that you prepare to get the most out of the Spring Career Fair. Begin by researching the roster of attendees either at the event website  or through the OSUCareerFair+ phone app. Be sure to have your resume reviewed, and plan to do so at least two weeks prior to the event to avoid long wait times in the days ahead of the fair.   Review the career fair tip sheets found here  and be sure to apply ahead of time to positions posted in FutureLink  by the participating employers.

Human Rights in Transit - Summer Program Info Session

International studies human rights minors and arts and humanities students interested in human rights are invited to attend an info session on a study program scheduled for June 12 - 16 in New York. The program will include film screenings at this year's Human Rights Watch Film Festival and exploring the archives at Columbia University's Center for Human Rights Documentation and Research. Students will tour the UN Memorial to Honor Victims of Slavery and Transatlantic Slave Trade, African Burial Ground National Monument, and Stonewall National Moment.  Accepted students will be provided with lodging and travel accommodations. Earn credits outdoors and take advantage of the summer tuition reduction at Stone Laboratory, The Ohio State University's island campus on Lake Erie. Stone Lab offers hands-on, field-based science courses with small class sizes. Students in any major can take our introductory courses on topics such as aquatic biology, birds, plants and insects. Research Etiquette for the Beginning Researcher

When undergraduate students join a laboratory, they are walking into a new environment that has more rules than a typical workspace. Some rules will become obvious very rapidly, but many are not explicitly written anywhere. Figuring out the rules and knowing good lab etiquette is essential for success. This session will go over some basic lab etiquette rules.

Undergraduate Research and Mentorship Grants

The Global Mobility Project in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Research invites applications for newly-established undergraduate research and mentorship grants. They seek proposals from faculty and student teams with a goal of training undergraduate students to perform research and creative work, as well as guiding their projects. They encourage faculty to nominate promising students and urge students to identify faculty as their mentors.  They will  consider applications related to any aspect of mobility and migration, regardless of geographical, historical, or thematic focus. Organized by Mitchell Rose, associate professor in the Department of Dance, this program of vibrant, award-winning shorts showcases the latest fusions of filmmaking and dance from around the world. Among the selections, see Timecode, the story of two parking lot attendants' flirtation via security cameras. Watch Rose's own Exquisite Corps, the viral phenomenon in which 42 American contemporary choreographers link together on a chain love letter to dance. In all, 14 films will be screened. CCS App Offers Strategies to Feel Better!

The Counseling and Consultation Services App offers easy-to-use multimedia strategies to feel better fast!  The app connects you to usable tools that help promote wellness, balance and calm. LifeLine Response App
The Undergraduate Student Government announced the launch of the LifeLine Response Enterprise App, a safety app for smart phones available free of charge to Buckeye students (NOTE: Lifeline Response ENTERPRISE, not Lifeline Response).   USG worked alongside the university to identify this resource in order to provide students with access to another safety-focused tool. To download the safety resource, simply search "LifeLine Response Enterprise" in the Apple iTunes© or Google Play app stores. If you sign up using your Ohio State student email address, the fee for the app will be waived.  More info.
