Enjoying the weather? I am! Love the rain and love the sunshine. The snow I will admire from afar.
Best of all, is the impact that the recent deluge has made on the water supply for the state.
The San Diego County Water Authority has declared an end to drought conditions in our region and has asked Governor Brown and the State Water Resources Control Boad to rescind the statewide emergency water-use regulations for areas that are no longer in drought conditions. As noted by
Mark Muir, chair
Board of Directors, SDCWA:
"Telling the public to continue extraordinary, emergency conservation measures when the drought emergency no longer exists undermines the credibility of state and local water agencies and erodes the effectiveness of communications during actual water supply emergencies."
"It is imperative that we in San Diego send a clear message to businesses, those considering expanding operations here, and those considering moving here: the region is open for business, and we have the water supplies to support a thriving economy."
The San Diego region has invested approximately $3.5 billion over the past three decades to increase regional water supply reliability, including seawater desalination, additional water storage capacity and upgraded conveyance systems.
"Together, we exit this drought even stronger than when we entered it, having enhanced the firm foundation of water supply reliability that supports the economy and quality of life we share."
In 2016, at the height of the drought, San Diego County was storing additional water, as each district was required to reduce water use from 15%-30%. The issue for the county was not supply, but regulation. Non the less, we are prepared for the next drought. We do live in a desert after all, and wise use and storage of water will ensure that we are able to weather the hot, dry years.
Sincerely,
Rorie Johnston

- Require a facility survey to be performed to initially determine the presence or absence of asbestos.
- Require a copy of the facility survey to be maintained on the job site and submitted along with the initial notification form.
- Specify test methods used to identify the presence of asbestos.
- Clarify specific timing of notifications submitted to the District.
