February 2017 Newsletter

Where does the time fly?! January blew past us and here we are in February already. The winter, so far, hasn't been brutal (I know, I know, don't jinx it!) but that doesn't mean we aren't looking forward to spring. Let's see what our friend the groundhog has to say about that tomorrow. In the meantime we've incorporated a few interesting articles to keep you headed in the right direction with your New year resolutions (you remember those right?!). We'll all work together to get more organized, lose some pounds and stay safe out on the roads. Good luck and remember we're here when you need us.

Sincerely,

Drive Less Aggressively

Here is the Northeast it seems like everyone is driving for their lives. It's stressful and can also be dangerous. Put yourself in a new frame of mind by taking an online defensive driving course. It's great for new drivers AND even the most experienced drivers who could use a gentle reminder to take it slower. Best of all it can also save you money on your car insurance. Classes are around $20.00 and can be taken online. Just google online defensive driving courses. You'll be glad you did!
Rollover Review
We don't always have the opportunity to do a play by play during a recovery but in this case we were fortunate enough to capture the rollover below as it occurred. This vehicle recovery of a rolled over car done with a flatbed at night. Walter rolled it back onto it's wheels, loaded it up and away we went!

Machine Mishap

A customer who rented this machine had a mishap when he was loading it onto his own trailer. For sure it wasn't the professionals at Sunbelt who loaded it. The customer called us and our 40 ton rotator was dispatched to the scene with Tom Prince Jr. Tom rigged the machine using our endless loop nylon straps and our mini spreader bar to lift the unit up safely. The customer then pulled the trailer out from under the machine and it was put back onto the ground.

9 Things Ultra Productive People Do
Strategies that help get more done in less time. Try a few!

1. Fight the tyranny of the urgent.  The tyranny of the urgent refers to the tendency of little things that have to be done right now to get in the way of what really matters. This creates a huge problem as urgent actions often have little impact.

2. Never touch things twice. Productive people never put anything in a holding pattern, because touching things twice is a huge time-waster. Don't save an email or a phone call to deal with later. As soon as something gets your attention you should act on it, delegate it or delete it.

3. Don't procrastinate. Do the least appetizing, most dreaded item on your to-do list before you do anything else.

4. Don't multitask.
Research conducted at Stanford University confirms that multitasking is less productive than doing a single thing at a time. The researchers found that people who are regularly bombarded with several streams of electronic information cannot pay attention, recall information or switch from one job to another as well as those who complete one task at a time.

5. Get ready for tomorrow before you leave the office for the day. Productive people end each day by preparing for the next. This practice helps to ensure you'll have a productive tomorrow. It only takes a few minutes and it's a great way to end your workday.

6. Say no.  "No" is a powerful word that ultra-productive people are not afraid to wield. Saying no to a new commitment honors your existing commitments and gives you the opportunity to successfully fulfill them.

7. Check email only at designated times. Don't allow e-mail to be a constant interruption. Set alerts for your most important vendors and best customers, and save the rest until they reach a stopping point.

8. Put technology to work for you.
Technology catches a lot of flak for being a distraction, but it can also help you focus. Ultra-productive people put technology to work for them. Beyond setting up filters in their e-mail accounts so that messages are sorted and prioritized as they come in, they set up contingencies on their smart phones that alert them when something important happens.

9. Stick to the schedule during meetings.  Meetings will drag on forever if you let them, so inform everyone at the onset that you'll stick to the intended schedule (if you're of course running the meeting). This sets a limit that motivates everyone to be more focused and efficient.
