Dear Lakeside Community,
I look forward to working with the staff, parents, students and community at Lakeside again. Starting February 8th, my regular on campus schedule will be Mondays and Wednesdays through June 30, 2017. Prior to that my schedule varies. On the days that I am not on campus, Susan Ady will be the point of contact. Susan and I will be working closely throughout the remainder of the school year to provide cohesive administrative presence on campus.
A big thank you to Dr. Lisa Gonzales for providing me with a smooth transition back to Lakeside in the short amount of time that I had to jump into the roll of Interim Superintendent/Principal. I wish her well in her new position and thank her for her positive contributions to the Lakeside School District.
I am getting my feet off the ground into the full sprint of Lakeside. In true Lakeside fashion, my first week back was eventful. Throughout the week I was reminded how committed and supportive this community is to one another no matter the circumstance.
The Highway 17 incident on Thursday was unsettling for all. A big thank you to the teachers for keeping the students engaged and calm during the "shelter in place". Also thanks to Susan and Nancy as they kept everyone informed of the events that were happening via the Sheriff's department. We are grateful to all of the parents who were on the 1/2 field trip and maneuvered the mountain roads safely due to the closure of Highway 17. Lastly, a warm thank you to Scott, our bus driver, for going above and beyond, not only Thursday but also all of the days that he most ably handled the mountain roads and all the weather related issues this month.
A FEW REMINDERS AND UPDATES:
- The Winter Program that was postponed last Thursday is in the process of being rescheduled. We will keep you posted as soon as an alternate date is chosen.
- During drop off and pick-up, please do not let your child(ren) walk in the parking lot without an adult escort at all times. Even better, please pull up as close to the path near the field so your kids can be closer to your vehicle.
- Dr. G's STEM classes will continue through May. Sign-ups for the next session will open up mid-February.
The program that I am using for this blast is new to me. I will be changing photos soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Dr. G graciously left me a tutorial to get me started. I am still in training.
Enjoy the few days of dry weather we are going to have at the beginning of this week. If the forecasted rain comes in at the end of the week, let's hope for a reasonable amount of moisture and not a deluge.
Best Regards,
Elizabeth Bozzo
Interim Superintendent/Principal
