President's Corner

Dear Kiwanis Club of Omaha,

For those of you who are off today, I hope you are enjoying the holiday with family and friends. In this week's letter, I want to recognize our strong programming/speaker coordination so far this year and highlight an upcoming presentation as a great opportunity to invite guests to demonstrate the caliber of speakers our members can gain access to. We have had a candidate for Omaha Mayor, the CEO of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, some of the HDR employees responsible for design and implementation of their new headquarters, and a few other outstanding programs - even though it's only mid-February! Thank you to John Wehrle and the programming committee for all the time and effort they give to keep bringing interesting, relevant speakers each week. On March 17th, we will have the Mayor of Omaha, Jean Stothert, and we have reserved a larger room than normal. Please invite friends, family, and co-workers so we have a strong turn-out for this presentation.

Additionally, we have a very busy week ahead of us. We have a service project on February 27th, and a scotch/wine tasting this Saturday, February 25th. Please RSVP for these events using the links below and consider inviting guests. The more we grow our club, the greater our impact will be as we continue to improve the world, one child and one community at a time!

LAST MEETING

"Keeping Omaha Beautiful"

At our meeting last Friday we heard from Chris Stratman, Executive Director of Keep Omaha Beautiful. Mr. Stratman gave us a history of Keep Omaha Beautiful, which was founded in 1959. The organization oversees litter clean-up and "adopt a park" programs, but also has a relationship with the Siena Francis House. Keep Omaha Beautiful worked with 4,300 volunteers in 2016 who worked 10,350 hours and cleaned 180 miles of trail in addition to much, much more!
