2017 RDGA SCHEDULE OFFERS

FOURTH ANNUAL WOMEN'S OPEN at IRONDEQUOIT
HIGHLIGHTS RDGA WOMEN'S SCHEDULE
- REGISTER NOW at www.RDGA.org
The fourth annual RDGA Women's Open visits Irondequoit Country Club on September 11, 2017 - just one of many events for women golfers on the 2017 RDGA Tournament Schedule. Click on the image above for more information - including how to register!

Part of what makes the RDGA a full service regional golf association are the outstanding playing opportunities available to women of all abilities - from scratch golfers to those with high handicaps - and this year's RDGA Tournament Schedule offers EIGHT events that are open to women.

Many RDGA tournaments are designed for "regular" golfers and welcome women players. From RDGA Play Days at Penfield CC , Brook-Lea CC and Irondequoit CC , to the Two Person Scramble  and the   Two Person Four Ball team events, the Women's Open in September and the Women's Handicap Team Scramble in June - there are many options for you to participate in the RDGA tournament experience - all you need is an active USGA Handicap Index issued by an RDGA Member Club!
  • Perhaps the most popular of these events is the RDGA Women's Open , which is open to women golfers of all levels. This year, historic Irondequoit Country Club will serve as host for our annual celebration of Women's Golf in Rochester! Scheduled for September 11, the tournament will be flighted so you will play with women of similar ability, with winners from each flight. Prizes will be in the form of gift certificates and will be awarded to approximately one third of the field.
  • Another great women-only event, returning to the RDGA schedule for a second year, is the   RDGA Women's Handicapped Team Scramble Tournament . Scheduled for June 4,and hosted this year by the beautiful Reservoir Creek Country Club in Naples, the Women's Team Scramble is the only 4-person scramble on the RDGA schedule. Teams may come from the same club or from different clubs, and all levels of play are welcome - part of your strategy is putting together a team with the winning combination of skills and handicaps!
  • In addition to these events, the RDGA also offers major championships for the elite women golfers in the District - the   RDGA Women's Championship Danielle E. Downey Memorial (open to any women RDGA members with a USGA handicap index of 15.0 and under) and, back for a second year, the RDGA Senior Women's Championship (open to any women RDGA members, age 50 and over, with a USGA Handicap Index of 15.0 and under). Scheduled for July 14 and 15, the 2017 RDGA Women's and Senior Women's Championships will be held concurrently with the RDGA Men's District Championship, with competitors teeing off in separate flights during the final two rounds of the Men's District Championship.
So sign up today - click on each tournament above for more info, including how to register online - or, for more information about the many exciting tournament options for women RDGA members in the year ahead, visit the  2017 RDGA Women's Events page!

In just his sixth start as a PGA Tour rookie, Rochester native Dominic Bozzelli completed a fifth-place finish at the 2017 CareerBuilder Challenge on Sunday, January 22 in LaQuinta, California for his best showing to date on Tour.

Bozzelli opened the tournament with an 8-under-par 64 on the always-tough Stadium Course at PGA West to take the first round lead on Thursday - including a chip-in for eagle on the par-4 14th hole (see video below). After Saturday's third round, he was just one shot off the lead going into the final round.

After an up and down start to the final round on Sunday, Bozzelli birdied the final two holes - including a 36-footer at 18 - to finish alone in fifth place.

It was his first top-20 of the season and ended a streak of three consecutive cuts. The finish vaulted the Auburn alum 99 spots in the FedExCup standings.

Bozzelli - a brand ambassador for RDGA Corporate Partner Power Management and a two-time RDGA Match Play champion - posted rounds of 64-67-69-71 to finish at 17-under-par 271 in the CareerBuilder Challenge, winning $232,000 for his fifth-place finish, along with 110 FedEx Cup points. As a result of the tournament, Bozzelli rose to 65th place on the Tour's FedEx Cup standings - just ahead of Branden Grace and just behind Rory McIlroy.

As a reminder, you can follow the weekly progress of Rochester's newest pro tour golfer throughout his rookie season on the PGA Tour by clicking on the Dominic Bozzelli Tour Tracker, brought to you by RDGA Corporate Partner Power Management. EQUIPMENT NEWS: THE HOTTEST BALL IN GOLF
- AND WHY YOU MIGHT NOT SEE IT AGAIN

It was the biggest story among golf equipment releases in 2016. When Costco introduced the Kirkland Signature "house brand" golf ball late in the year, word spread of its performance characteristics - and the ball quickly sold out...twice! Now, insiders say that the big box retailer may not offer the ball to members any more. Get the details right here.
