Hide and Seek: An Adoptee's Journey to Identity

Don't miss this unique opportunity to spend an afternoon with  Nancy Verrier, MFT, psychotherapist, adoptive parent and author of the Primal Wound, and Coming Home to Self, and Thomas Ahern, MA, former school psychologist, adult adoptee and advocate for adoptee's rights.  Thomas is also the Senior Vice President of Business Development for CALO programs.

Nancy Verrier will discuss the differences between forming families by birth and adoption; what adoptive parents need to know in order to enhance attunement and attachment; how to help their children with identity issues; and what adoptees want adoptive parents to know (but don't tell them).

Thomas Ahern will describe his journey as he struggled with the impact of early relinquishment and developmental trauma and reached a place of healing and integration.  His compelling narrative utilizes authentic manuscripts, audiotape and other personal artifacts from his search and reunion.

Nancy Verrier stated that "understanding more about the complexities of adoption can make all the difference in how adoptees and their parents form loving and lasting connections."
