We are pleased to announce
the first edition of the new, quarterly APSA Diversity and Inclusion Programs newsletter.
This e-newsletter is shared with diversity and inclusion program alumni and friends. It will feature program updates, upcoming opportunities and deadlines, alumni news, resources to advance diversity and inclusion, as well as information on how to connect within the APSA Diversity and Inclusion alumni network.

APSA seeks RBSI and MFP alumni mentors to provide professional advice to current RBSI scholars and MFP fellows. Share your professional experiences and advice wtih early career scholars. We are especially seeking mentors for women, individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, and individuals interested in both nonacademic and the academic job market. APSA Ralph Bunche Summer Institute (RBSI)

Celebrating 30th Years of Excellence!
2016 marked the 30th anniversary of the APSA Ralph Bunche Summer Institute. To date there are over 500 RBSI Alumni. The 2017 RBSI Program will kick off May 2017 at Duke University, under the directional Dr. Paula D. McClain.

Special Features in Diversity and Inclusion

APSA 2016 Election Reflections
Prior to the election, APSA's Diversity and Inclusion Programs Office issued a call for scholarly reflections, original research notes, and classroom exercises that shed light upon diversity, political behavior, public opinion and the 2016 Campaign and Election. What resulted is series of 2016 Election Reflections, covering a range of election related topics and research methods. RBSI Alumna Andra Gillespie, Class of 1997, kicked off the series with her piece on leverage politics.

Diversity & Inclusion Programs Webinar Series
This Fall, APSA Diversity & Inclusion Programs launched a webinar series to assist students with their applications to graduate programs in political science. The first webinar took place on October 28, 2016 and featured Villanova University's
Dr. Camille Burge, RBSI 2007, speaking to students about crafting their personal statements. The second webinar featured UC Berkeley's 3rd year PhD candidate,
Justine Davis, MFP 2014-15, speaking to students about spring semester priorities and tips on late deadline applications. Cornell University's
David Cortez, RBSI 2010 and

Gladys Mitchell-Walthour
(MFP 2002-2003) was elected in 2016 as vice president of the Brazil Studies Association. She also accepted a tenure track position as assistant professor in the Department of Africology (Africana Studies) at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
Victoria Jackson
(RBSI 2009) graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with her Master's degree in Government/Political Science, and is currently a first year law student at The University of La Verne in Southern California.
Carolina Ferrerosa Young (RBSI 2008, MFP 2012) is now a fifth year PhD candidate in Political Science at Columbia University, focusing on American Politics and quantitative methods. She is currently pursuing research projects on representational inequality, legislative political behavior, and experimental methods, and is a 2016-2017 Visiting Scholar at
APSA's Centennial Centennial for Political Science and Public Affairs. Carolina is also a 2012 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and a Columbia University Dean's Fellow.
