Downtown Santa Barbara Retail Study
Unique restaurants, great shopping, amazing cultural venues...and to be honest, more than a handful of empty storefronts. The staff at Downtown Santa Barbara sees it too - and we're working on doing something about it.
We recently convened a number of our existing retailers - national and local - and reached consensus that something must be done to protect our future and ensure that we continue to receive a strong return on our investments in Downtown Santa Barbara.
We are now taking a more active role in understanding and potentially helping guide and improve our overall retail mix. The shopping experience on the street must remain strong for everyone's best interests, regardless of whether they are the property owner, the tenant, or the real estate agent.
With funding from a variety of sources (property owners, non-profit community organizations, a major utility company, our conference & visitors bureau, plus others), we have contracted with downtown works, a consultant firm that specializes in working with downtown organizations at the local level, to study, evaluate, research and develop an appropriate retail study.
Downtown Santa Barbara is, as always, focused on the success of our members, and the continued vitality of our downtown district. Please stay tuned - we're looking forward to the results of the Retail Study, and to sharing what we learn with all of you.
