Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he made to us - eternal life.

This week in Chapel we continued our walk through the Book of I John. For the next several weeks, we will be answering the following key question: “What does genuine faith look like?”
As you and your family go about life this week, consider the following questions for conversation:
CONVERSATIONS STARTERS:
Read through I John 2:18-25
- “Why do you think that it is important to know that not all ideas about God actually lead to God?”
- “What are some of the reasons that someone (John refers to them as ‘antichrists’) would teach a ‘counterfeit faith’?”
- “If some of the most common false teachings about the Father are that He is unknowable, He is uninterested, He is unmerciful, and He does not take my sin seriously…why is it important to know the truth (I John 4:19; Psalm 117, 118, 136, 138; John 3:16)?
- “If some of the most common false teachings about the Son are that He was 100% God but not fully man, He was 100% man but not fully God, His death on the cross was not absolutely essential, and His resurrection from the grace was not absolutely essential…why is it important to know the truth (Hebrews 4:15; Colossians 2:9; I Peter 2:24; I Corinthians 15:17)?
- “In understanding that all temptation is rooted (Genesis 3:6) in ‘the desires of the flesh’ (the notion that I want what I’m told I cannot have), ‘the desires of the eyes’ (the notion that if something looks good, it must be good), or ‘the pride of life’ (the notion that I know what is best for my life) what is your greatest temptation that you battle against?”
- “How does the Holy Spirit in you give you confidence about knowing that you have a right understanding of God?”
- “How does the Word of God to you give you confidence about knowing that you have a right understanding of God?”
- “How can I pray for you?”
Thank you so much for continuing in your homes the conversations that we have in our chapels!
So glad to be partnering together with you!
