Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day 
 Thank you to all of the community health advocates who attended our annual meeting on January 26th. Check out the presentations and pictures from the event! Read more.

Thank you as well to committed tobacco control who braved a
 downpour to Kick Butts for Kids' Health at our advocacy day on February 15th. Advocacy Day attendees communicated with legislators about the benefits of higher tobacco taxes, the need to ensure smoke-free workplaces for all workers, and the importance of investing in tobacco control and prevention programs.  Click here to see social media posts from the day.
BackFire and Nix the Nic contest
BackFire is here! South Carolina's youth tobacco prevention campaign has dropped. Check out the website, the videos, the FREE materials, and the Nix the Nic contest (closes April 5, 2017)  Make a pledge to end dipping. Sing an original song against smoking. Just let your imagination run wild. Need some inspiration? Check out these activities. 

There are two ways to enter the Nix the Nic contest: as an individual or as a s chool/community organization.   Grand Prize for individuals:  $500 Scholarship, and plenty of runner up prizes.  Grand Prize for S chool/Community Organization: Grant, $2,000 in Scholarships split between up to 5 students, with runner up prizes as well

Tobacco-Free College Campus Initiative (TFCCI) 1DayStand
                                   
Did you know that 95% of all tobacco users start by age 21?When institutions of higher learning establish tobacco-free campuses they make it easier for young adults to make the healthy choice: living tobacco-free. Colleges and universities can join the 1,483 campuses already tobacco- or smoke-free by taking a 1DayStand on Wednesday, March 15th. Read more.
