"A strong play therapist is first instructed in Child Centered Play Therapy followed by a strong eclectic training that is considered within an eco-systemic framework. It then follows that the treatment is prescriptively applied in child's care and competently integrated with the child's systems through the skills of proficient play therapy translation." Teri V. Krull

Description:
Much of what we do as play therapists is professionally intuitive and deeply secured in the context of the Axline based child centered theory. Within the play therapy community, we tend to rely on professional understanding as we do our work with children. This workshop emphasizes our responsibility to define what we do in ways that are not only relationship based but neurologically and cognitively sound therefore securing optimal health of the child.
This workshop will provide the participants with theory instruction, technique instruction, and will introduce a play therapy translation grid for the use in the application of techniques. This grid will assist the play therapist in accurately identifying the benefit of each technique to the specific child client and will also instruct in how to translate the value of play therapy to others.
