Salary Recommendations and Resources  for 2017-2018

Freshly formatted Salary Recommendations, our new  Guide to Salary Recommendations, updated Capsule Job Descriptions, and the Geo Index Listing are now available for the coming program year on our Salary Recommendations webpage.

Although we've made some cosmetic changes, the actual recommendations and geo indices remain unchanged from the 2016-2017 year. Read about our "catch-up year" philosophy in this memo.

Jan Gartner, UUA Compensation and Staffing Practices Manager, and our regional Compensation Consultants are available to help you.
Compensation Webinars

The Office of Church Staff Finances is pleased to present two compensation-related webinars. Jan Gartner is leading  Strategies for Setting Staff Salaries (Feb. 21  or 22), and Jan will team up with Rev. Richard Nugent, Director, Church Staff Finances to offer  Ministerial Compensation: Unraveling the Complexities for Lay Leaders (Mar. 7 or 8).  Find out more and register on our Compensation and Payroll page.

This same page also your go-to place for information on the Fair Labor Standards Act, the employee or independent contractor distinction, and ministerial compensation guidance.
New Schedule

In the past, we've posted Salary Recommendations and the Geo Index Listing for the upcoming program year (July through June) in January, about 6 months ahead. Especially if a congregation anticipates a significant staff transition or restructuring, we know they may begin their budget planning sooner. To help ensure that congregational leaders have the information they need to make good decisions, we'll begin posting updated the Salary Recommendations and Geo Index Listing in the fall. Look for 2018-2019 resources this fall!
