Neal Johnson, 2017 CFR President responded to the data:
"Our area residential home sales stats for January 2017 have just been released, and I am very pleased with what I see. The figures continue to confirm how active, healthy and robust our real estate market is today. January 2017 had an incredible record setting 601 total units sold; this is the highest number we have ever seen in our January history, up over 40.75% when compared to January 2016.  read more

Home price appreciation sped up during the last quarter of 2016 as supply constraints pushed inventories to record lows, NAR says.
Pets are Factors in Home Decisions
More than 80 percent of households say animal-related considerations play a role when making housing decisions, an NAR analysis finds. Among other things, 89 percent would not give up pets because of housing restrictions, and 12 percent have moved (and 19 percent say they would consider moving) to accommodate pets. read more
Blueprint Envisions No RE Tax Deduction
The chair of the tax-writing House Ways & Means Committee met with several hundred politically active REALTORS® in Washington last week as part of NAR's annual policy conference. Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) said the tax reform blueprint Republicans in the House are putting together would reduce tax rates and increase the standard deduction but would also eliminate the deduction for state and local real estate taxes. The mortgage interest deduction would remain but few households would be expected to itemize under the proposed reforms. Also at risk are 1031 exchanges, although Brady and others at the conference emphasized they're still getting feedback from people, including REALTORS®. read more

Appraisers Don't Have to Test  NAR notched a win
when HUD released updates to its FHA single-family loan handbook that removed language requiring appraisers to operate stoves and other appliances to test how well they work. NAR asked for the language to be changed, because the requirement is more appropriate for home inspectors. HUD revised the language to require appraisers to note the appliances in the property

Flexmls iOS app
On February 2, the newest version of the Flexmls iOS app for consumers will be released. This version allows your clients to tap on emailed listings and open them directly in their app instead of the mobile website.

When you share listings with a contact from Flexmls using Subscription Emails, Manual Emails or Flexmls Pro, the emailed link will be a universal link. This means that if your contact opens the email on a device that has the Flexmls app for consumers installed, the link will open directly in their app.

If your client doesn't have the app installed or if they are not using an iOS device, the link will open on a mobile website just as it currently does.

Note that launching the iPhone app from an emailed link is only available for iPhone 5 (or newer) using iOS 9 or higher.

Apple iOS 10.2

Apple recently released operating system iOS 10.2 for iPhones and iPads. We completed testing of the new iOS with the eKEY app and are happy to announce there are no issues.

......................................

We are very excited to announce a new way for an existing eKEY® user to obtain an eKEY authorization code.

Your members that have an eKEY can now request an authorization code from within the eKEY app. This is useful if they are moving their eKEY service to a new phone or if they receive a 9B0D error when the eKEY gets out of sync with the server.

To obtain an eKEY authorization code from Mobile SupraWEB:
1. Select the SupraWEB icon from within the eKEY app (on the 2nd page of icons), or navigate to supraweb.suprakim.com on your smartphone.
2. Enter eKEY serial number. The eKEY serial number can be found at the top of the eKEY home screen.
3. Enter 4-digit PIN.
4. Select the Association/MLS from the dropdown list.
5. Select Login.
6. Select Authorization Code
7. The authorization code will be emailed to the email address on file in SupraNET.

We are pleased to announce the Supra® eKEY® app is certified as compatible with the new Apple® iPhone® 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.   To view the growing list of smartphones and tablets compatible with the eKEY app, please
