Feb. 14 ACSWF meeting will offer reports           fro members on upcoming exhibits, events

One of the somewhat under-recognized benefits provided by the general meetings of the Arts Council of Southwest Florida is that they are more than business -- they provide a great opportunity for all of our affiliate organizations to strut their artistic stuff.

At the meeting on Feb. 14 (yes, Valentines day, but a morning event), hosted by the Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda, the Council's member organizations will have a platform to highlight their upcoming events and to invite participation from other art groups.

We encourage all ACSWF members to send their delegates or other representatives to this meeting, hosted by the Visual Arts Center  (VAC) in Punta Gorda (210 Maud St.), social gathering, 9:30 a.m., the business meeting at 10 a.m.

As host, the VAC will follow the business meeting with a tour of its great facilities and have the opportunity to spotlight its upcoming 2017 Peace River National Art Festival, March 18 and 19, on the banks of the Peace River in beautiful Laishley Park. (To register for a booth, visit  www.boulderbrook.net).

The ACSWF's general meeting in March (March 14) will be hosted by the Cape Coral Art League.

Don Long
Interim President

Quick Quiz

A British artist, he was called "the painter of light."
It's said his last words were, "The sun is God."
One of his paintings was titled "Rain, steam and speed."

Who was he?
No prizes, but we'll report the first person to send us the answer.
