Border Mission Trip Information Session February 26
|
Our 2017 Border Mission Trip will occur Spring Break week. We will leave following worship on Sunday, March 13, and return Friday, March 18. The trip will again be a joint effort involving UKirk college students and members generally. During the week we will build a house for a deserving family in Reynosa, Mexico, under the direction of Faith Ministry.
If you are interested in going, there will be an informational meeting in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the reception for Danny Dennis on Sunday, February 26. Food will be provided. Please come to the meeting if you feel you might be interested.
|
For more information, please contact Craig Deats at 512.567.1419 or
cdeats@ddollaw.com. Thanks to all for your continued support of this vital mission of the church. You make it possible.

Donations Needed!
Whether or not you can go with us, please make a contribution to help us defray costs. The Service Committee’s budget for the Mission Trip had to be cut 25 percent this year, and it costs approximately $250 per person to transport, house and feed our mission trippers. College students especially are on tight budgets, so every donation large or small is critical. You can contribute by placing a check in the offering plate endorsed to UPC but clearly marked for the Border Mission Trip, or give the check to Craig Deats. Please contribute as soon as possible.

Thank You, Laudate Children's Choir!
|
Our new Laudate Children’s Choir sang a delightful arrangement of “This Little Light of Mine” yesterday. It included short solos and expressive movement, and it delighted all of us present to hear it.
The primary characteristic of a choir is how wonderful different voices can sound when brought together into one voice. It’s not dissimilar to a well-practiced football team; what counts is what you can do together. The same is true with a well-prepared choir; it’s always a special joy to know you are part of a sound that only can be made by doing it together.
Well done indeed, Laudate (which means ‘praise’). Do it again!

If you'd like your elementary or middle-school student to be part of the
Laudate choir, contact Austin Bradley or stop by Room 210 at 9:30 a.m. Sundays.

Feb 26: Focus on People Seeking Asylum: We will share a video entitled “Locked in a Box” that was produced by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and Lutheran Social Services. Lenna Baxter with the Interfaith Welcome Coalition in San Antonio will discuss what an asylum seeker’s journey in Texas looks like. She will share ways we can help support asylum seekers, either as individuals or as a congregation.
