Using copper plates & non-toxic techniques, this workshop will introduce contemporary & traditional approaches to hard ground, drypoint, aquatint & spit bite to produce line, texture and tone. Students will create a plate, which can be transferred to additional plates for multiple color prints. They will learn how to mix & modify color inks, hand wipe the plate, register & print proofs, and begin a small edition. Daily demos & individualized instruction. All levels welcome .

This studio workshop will focus on exploring the use of color to maximize the luminous qualities of watercolor and experimenting with application methods such as pouring and glazing. Ann will demonstrate her layering and masking techniques while sharing tips for mixing and composing with color.

In this class students will paint along with Robert as he demonstrates step-by-step a range of subjects, watercolor techniques, brushwork, color theory and tactics in representational art, to put you on the path to stronger, more expressive paintings. Special emphasis on perspective, composition and color usage as well as optimizing the image for a more successful painting.

help you begin? Or hoping to refresh your skills and start painting again?  This no-fear, supportive class will give you the confidence and knowledge to complete a painting on day one. We will focus on landscape painting from your photos, and learn about composition, color mixing, and creating artistic effects. Use oils or acrylics, or the new water soluble oils, with soap and water cleanup.  You'll be surprised at what you will accomplish in this enjoyable, relaxed class.  All levels are welcome.

Members' Participation Guidelines
  • Fee: $10 / Two for $15
  • Prices will be awarded in all categories with 10 or more participants.
    • There are $100 first prizes and $50 second prizes in each category.
    • Faculty members not considered for awards but are encouraged to exhibit.
  • Painters & Photographers: You are welcome to bring in two pieces. Since we have limited space and want to accommodate everyone, one of your framed paintings can be up to 48" on the longest side and the second one is not to exceed 30" on the longest side.
  • (Longest outside edge of frame)
  • Jewelers & Potters: May bring in 3 pieces each.
  • All works must be framed, wired, and suitable for hanging. Copies of masters' works are not eligible; work which has been exhibited at the Center is not eligible; work done with an instructor is not eligible.
  • Membership must be current.
