Thanks
Thanks for a great Annual Party.  2016 was a good year. If you missed the year-in-review video on Sunday just click here.  We adopted a challenging budget for 2017 but I am convinced that we can do it.  When you see all the things we do together (like in the video) we are reminded how our gifts are not to a "budget", but to ministries, to people being the people of God.

Sunday we got our first look at our large banners with our core values of Relevant, Hopeful and Generous.  The banners will go outdoors when we can get them into the ground.  (Thanks to Craig Orf for building the stands so we could use them indoors).

At the meeting I also shared a video clip that I watch whenever I need my spirits lifted a bit.  If you want to watch it again click here.  Like I said, it isn't particularly religious but it captures the spirit of what we can do together when we don't let our differences divide us.

I will be starting up my Pastor's Bible Class again on Sunday at 9:25 in the Fireside room.  Join us as we use some Bible Project videos to spur some great conversation about scripture.
check out this great opportunity to learn and grow. We are applying for a grant to cover the costs.  This is a great one day event with over 40 workshops covering all aspects of congregational life ( a listing of the workshops are avaiable to look over). There is a registration form in the narthex where you indicate your interest in going...we will register together as a congregation

Mission Project for February/March
Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief

All members and friends of Joy are asked to help furnish items for the Personal Care Kits that are being collected in the next several weeks to send to Lutheran World Relief to be shared with people who have lost everything from a natural disaster or life-threatening violence.
Each Care Kit contains the following:
            ONE light-weight bath-size towel (between 20" x 40" and 52" x 27, dark color preferred)
TWO bath-size bars of soap equaling 8-9 oz., any brand, in original wrapping
ONE adult-size toothbrush in its original packaging
            ONE sturdy comb, remove packaging
ONE metal nail clippers (attached file optional), remove packaging
Please donate new items and in good condition only. Do not donate any items with any religious symbols, messages, patriotic or military symbols, U.S. flags, or references to the armed forces, including camouflage. If you can donate all the contents for one Care Kit, that would be great! If not, donate items that you can easily find and we'll make Care Kits up from multiple donated items. Be assured, though, that everything you donate brings hope to the recipient. Reach out and help our brothers and sisters in need throughout the world.

We will be observing the annual Bold Women Sunday/Thank Offering Service at both the 8:15 a.m. and the 10:15 a.m. services. Guest preacher for the day will be Pastor Amelia Houdek, Pastor of Lifelong Faith Formation at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond, WI. Her responsibilities focus on Christian Faith Formation for every age, life stage, faith stage, and spiritual giftedness. She also supervises the direction of the Children Youth and Families ministry. Several of our Joy women heard her bring a message at a Conference WELCA event and liked her and her message so well, she was invited to be our preacher for this special service. You won't want to miss her message! We also will have the opportunity to make a special offering to support life-changing ministries of Women of the ELCA. Plan to join us in church on February 26th!

Change in Nursery Hours

Because we have not had people making use of the nursery during the Faith Formation time between worship services we will save resources and not be offering child care at that time.  If it becomes a need in the future we can reinstate it.  But for now, we will only be offering child care during the 10:15 worship.

Joy's Nursery is professionally staffed with experienced child caregivers who will look after your precious little ones as if they were their own.

Joy proudly introduces Melissa and Kyra Miller, our professional Mother-Daughter Nursery Team!
