A GHHN Workshop
Guided by GHHN's collection care professionals, participants will learn the proper hands-on methodology of collections care by working directly with collections at four locations in the Hudson Valley. Through our train-the-trainer focus, this full-day workshop will equip attendees with the knowledge and skill sets necessary for cleaning, handling, and storing collections along with the tools to teach their volunteer base these critical skills. Offered in 4 locations- choose one:
- March 22 - Lyndhurst
- April 12 - Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites
- July 18 - Historical Society of Rockland County
- November 1 - Staatsburgh State Historic Site

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Preservation Assistance Grant
Preservation Assistance Grants help small and mid-sized institutions-such as libraries, museums, historical societies, archival repositories, cultural organizations, town and county records offices, and colleges and universities-improve their ability to preserve and care for their significant humanities collections.

Preserve New York Grant Program from Preservation League of NYS and NYSCA
Preserve New York makes grants for historic structure reports, building condition reports, cultural landscape reports, and cultural resource surveys. Applicants must be a unit of local government or a not-for-profit group with tax-exempt status. State agencies and religious institutions are not eligible to apply. The program provides support up to 80% of the project cost. Applicants must provide 20% of the total project cost as a cash match. Grants are likely to range between $3,000 and $10,000. Technical Assistance Grants (TAG) from Preservation League of NYS and NYSCA
Grants of up to $3,000, with a required $500 match from each applicant, are available to non-profit groups and municipalities that manage historic sites, museums, arts facilities and other important institutions that serve an arts or cultural purpose and are open to the public.

Hudson River Valley Greenway Grant Program
The program provides matching grants to Greenway Communities and Greenway Compact Communities. Greenway Communities are eligible to receive up to $10,000 for plans or projects consistent with the five Greenway criteria: natural and cultural resource protection, economic development, public access, regional planning, and heritage and environmental education.

The New York Landmarks Conservancy Sacred Sites Grant Program
The Sacred Sites Program assists religious organizations with two statewide matching grant programs: Sacred Sites Grants and Sacred Sites Challenge grants. Congregations located in New York City are additionally eligible for our third grant program: Consulting Grants. Historic synagogues located in New York City's five boroughs are eligible for our fourth grant program: Jewish Heritage Fund Grants. To learn more information, click here. Teaching the Hudson Valley Explore Awards
Teaching the Hudson Valley will provide grant funding for place-based education by funding trips to culturally significant sites through the
Explore Awards. This creates opportunities for students to explore the history, environment, and culture of the Hudson River Valley. Deadline; submit your application at least six weeks prior to your planned trip.
Teaching the Hudson Valley Bus on Us
Teaching the Hudson Valley provides
Bus on Us grants designed to help with transportation costs for visits to one or more of the following Hyde Park sites: Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site, FDR Presidential Library & Museum, Home of FDR National Historic Site, Top Cottage (Roosevelt's cottage retreat), and Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site.
Deadline; applications are accepted until all funds are exhausted.

2017 Conservation Treatment
Grant
Program Deadline March 1st!
The Conservation Treatment Grant Program is a partnership of the
New York State Council on the Arts
(
NYSCA) and Greater Hudson Heritage Network (GHHN) that provides support for treatment procedures by professional conservators to aid in stabilizing and preserving objects in collections of museums, historical and cultural organizations in New York State. Applications will be accepted from non-profit 501(c)3 museums, historical organizations or other cultural institutions that own, care for and exhibit collections to the public. Grant awards will be made to institutions lacking in-house conservation staff with expertise in the area for which support is requested. Collections owned by state or federal agencies are ineligible for grant support. Organizations may submit only one request, which may involve a single object or a group of related objects, all owned by the applicant institution. Objects that interpret the history/heritage of New York State are strongly encouraged to apply for conservation. Individual grant awards will not exceed $7,500. No match required.

Congratulations to GHHN Program Director Kerry Sclafani and her family on the birth of James Phineas! Phinney was born on Monday, January 23, at 3:31 PM
. He weighed 7 lbs, 14 oz and measured 20.5 inches.
Mom and baby are doing well.
Kerry will be back to work in early March.

Applicants who have consulted with an appropriate professional may request funds to purchase
collections management supplies. Supplies may include, but are not limited to:
storage boxes, acid-free tissue paper, artifact trays, dividers, UV filtering film, Tyvek sheeting, tape, tags, labels, and environmental monitors. Supply requests for archival or library collections will not be supported.
Maximum award: $750.
Application Deadlines
May 1 (Portal open April 1) and October 1 (Portal open September 1). Note: funds will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
