CEBC National Schools Program trip to RAK Research & Innovation Centre
On 23 January, CEBC's UAE National Schools Program visited the Ras Al Khaimah Research and Innovation Centre at the American University Ras Al Kahimah. With 35 student ambassadors joining us, we toured the RAKRIC facilities including their High-Precision Solar Tracking System. Students gained firsthand experience in up and coming research & development concerning Photovoltaic, Solar cooling, Solar Hybrid minigrid, Green building, Solar water desalination, Solar Island and Concentrated Solar Power. ACWA Power Agrees Risha Jordan PV deal with record-low tariff
ACWA Power has agreed with the Government of Jordan to develop, finance, construct, own and operate a new 61.3 MWp photovoltaic project in Risha, a province in Eastern Jordan. ACWA Power submitted a record-low tariff of JOD 42 fils per kWh, the lowest tariff for solar energy ever presented for a Jordan-based project, 3.3% lower than the previous lowest tariff provided to Jordan with the Mafraq PV project, also developed by ACWA Power under the Round II of Proposals for Renewable Energy in Jordan.
 

ORYX SOLAR celebrates successful connection of first residential solar system
On 9 January 2016 TerraStruc connected the first independent residential solar rooftop system in Dubai to the grid. As far as we know this is the first independent villa with a solar PV system to be connected to DEWA's grid after following the Shams process from A to Z (and that is not in Sustainable City!).

Renewables 2016 Global Report | Ren21
REN21 is a multi-stakeholder network; collectively this network shares its insight and knowledge, helping the REN21 Secretariat produce its annual Renewables Global Status Report as well as regional   reports. Today the network stands at 700 renewable energy, energy access and energy efficiency experts. Dubai retrofits bring energy savings worth 9.2mn
Etihad ESCO's retrofit projects have successfully saved 54GHW of energy in 2016, through five major projects, implemented for DEWA, JAFZA, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MRHE), which equates to AED 34 Million in monetary terms. Irena calls for more investment
