       We really mean it! Happy Valentine's Day... let's celebrate love all month---and year! Thank you for being an important part of our Yoga community and for all of the joy and love you bring with you every day, leaving your worries and stress behind as you step through the doors to Liberty Yoga. 
      We strive to continually bring you valuable offerings to help you manage the everyday "stuff" of life with grace and ease. Here are some of the things we are offering this month:

Join us for our first ever --- 

Liberty Yoga Beach Retreat! 
We are so excited to offer our Liberty Yoga Community a fun and relaxing first ever Yoga Retreat Getaway to this beautiful 3 story house in Rehoboth Beach, DE. The house will accommodate 22 people. We are looking at a long 4 day weekend 
from September 9th to the 12th.
 
Enjoy a relaxing getaway with:
*A beautiful beach house with a huge kitchen, pool table, large sitting area, deck, balcony, back yard, beautiful bedrooms with your own bathroom** and tv in every room (**most have own bathroom)
*1 block from the boardwalk and beach
*Yoga twice daily on the beach and /or at the house

*Professionally prepared meals. Leave the cooking to us

This Month...
Jade Yoga Mats!
These are our favorite mats! Here is the history of Jade mats:
The birth of Jade Yoga mats... One of the first known yoga mats was a rug pad. B.K.S. Iyengar was in the United States doing a demonstration on an oriental rug, but he was slipping. A student took the rug away leaving the pad underneath and the birth of the first yoga mat. The yoga mat that became the norm was made from cheap imitation plastic. It was also annoyingly slippery- almost useless for most practices and likely toxic.
Jade Yoga began in earnest in 2000 after we learned of a fundamental problem with most yoga mats on the market at that time. they were slippery. As we were already making natural rubber rug pads, we developed Harmony, the first natural rubber yoga mat.
The initials J-A-D-E stand for Jackie (my mom), Amy (my sister), Dean (me) and Ellen (my other sister)

Haley Wilks

    Before I found Yoga I was practicing Reiki level 2 and also a member of cross fit. In cross fit I would train my mind to ignore my bodies condition throughout the workout and would make it my goal to push through my limits. After 6 months of it I ended up injuring my knee to the point where I couldn't walk, so I took that as a sign from the universe that it was time to make some healthy choices. During my time at Cross Fit, Aleks would teach a morning Yoga class there that my dad and I would attend. We loved it and I decided that would be the new direction I would go.
   Yoga has become such a beautiful part of my life now and has taught me so, so much about how to create a loving relationship with my mind and body. Instead of making it my goal to push through my limits, Iv'e learned to...

     TRX Yoga uses the same principles of yoga asana which is strengthening by using your own body weight, stability before mobility and functional movement. By using the straps you will improve balance and strength by improving and sharpening your proprioceptor awareness. 
     Christine is a certified TRX teacher and has designed a Fun and dynamic Yoga class using the TRX suspension training straps to enhance your total body flexibility and strength while working the whole kinetic chain.
TRX uses the Foundational Principles of 
Plank, Pull, Hinge, Rotate, Press, Squat & Lunge
The focus is on "Active Plank" which is essentially Mountain Pose: precise alignment in all positions AND "Stability and Mobility".

Salad of the Month
with Erin Sweeney Detwiler

Kale and Herb Crusted Salmon
 
This is a beautiful and healthy addition to your meals.  Kale is low in calories and high in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. Click here if you want to know 10 reasons to eat kale.   Salmon is also very nutritious, being high in B vitamins and Omega-3 fats.  Click here to read why Salmon is one of the worlds healthiest foods.   As I eat this healthy meal, I can feel the healthy energy flowing in as the inflammation seeps away. 

Ingredients for Salad:
A Bunch of Kale
Sugar Free Vinaigrette Dressing
2 Tablespoons Almond Slivers
1/8 Sweet Onion Sliced Thin
1/2 avocado sliced
Cherry tomatoes
2 - 6 ounce fillets of Salmon


For Salmon:
Remainder of Sweet Onion Sliced Thin
1/8 cup dried parsley
2 teaspoons fresh rosemary
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon dried turmeric
2 cloves garlic, minces
2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons almond slivers
Directions:

     1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  

     2. Combine first 5 salmon ingredients (I processed them in a mini processor to mix). Dredge fish in herb mixture (do not dredge skin side).

    3. Fry fish, coated side down, in melted coconut oil and cook 3-4 minutes or until browned on coated side. Be careful not to cook too long because you will have burnt tasting herbs. (I use a cast Iron skillet for this.)

    4. Remove salmon, line the skillet with sweet onion slices, replace salmon, skin side down, in skillet and place, uncovered, in oven.

 5. Bake 5 minutes or until fish flakes with a fork. I turned the oven up to broil after 5 minutes and broiled for another few minutes. 

  6. While the salmon is cooking, wash and cut the kale, removing the stems if you wish. Massage the kale with the dressing and then mix in the onions, tomatoes, avocado, and almond slivers.
