President's Message
Dear families,

I hope you are having a great long weekend with your families.

Have you heard? The LPIE Science Fair will be on March 22. The LPIE Science Fair is a great opportunity for your child to learn and grow in an area of science that interests them and also to have a great night of science fun! Come join us for this fabulous annual event!  Sign up here!

With Gratitude
Thank you to the amazing 4th grade teachers for letting us observe your classrooms during our PTA meeting last Thursday.  Your team graciously opened your classrooms so that we could learn more about how the furniture the PTA purchased for your rooms has positively impacted your teaching. Thank you 4th grade team!

Hope you are staying dry,

BVE School Announcements

Attention 5th Graders!

You have a chance to make BVE history by designing the "Class of 2017" BVE T-shirts!  See your fellow classmates sport around your design at 5th Grade Camp and end-of-year activities!  Entry forms are available from your teachers or may be enclosed in your most recent Friday Folder.  You can also pick one up at the BVE Office.  Entries are due in the Office by Thursday, March 2!  Design entries will be selected by the Student Council, staff members, and the 5th Grade parent t-shirt committee.

Please make sure to note the following guidelines in your design:
*Design front and back of T-shirt
*Your design will be printed on a white T-shirt
*Design will be printed with 2 colors: blue and gold
*For best results:  use a simple design with clean lines, use blue and gold colored pencils to indicate colors on shirt
*Incorporate the year 2017 or '17 into your design in a creative way

Good luck!  Questions?  Contact Charisse Stratford (ccstratford@gmail.com)

Heart & Sole Shoe Drive
February 27 - March 3 2017

Do you know that 300 million pairs of shoes are thrown away ending up in landfills each year?

Shoes made with vinyl, leather, plastic and other materials take from 25-40 years to decompose.  This year Burton Valley will partner with Lafayette Elementary and Happy Valley Elementary through Sustainable Lafayette and do our part!  Have a heart and donate your unwanted shoes.  Usable shoes are donated to Recycle for Change and redistributed to local communities, and unwearable shoes will be taken to Nike's reuse a shoe program and made into soft playground platforms.

Bring outgrown, unwanted and unwearable shoes of any kind, adult and kid sizes, to a donation box in front of the main office February 27 - March 3rd.
