GLADEWATER, TEXAS
The Antique Capital of East Texas is a favorite tourism spot as nostalgia seekers from all over enjoy revisiting a bit of the past while browsing through the quaint old buildings. Dealers and artisans display their wares in various booths or stores located in antique malls and individual shops. Once a bustling boomtown of the 30's, Gladewater is the perfect place to get away for the weekend for those who seek a slower pace from the hustle and bustle of big city life. Enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of bed and breakfast inns, restaurants, bakeries, shopping and an old-fashioned Opry House. For the RVers, Gladewater has two RV Parks to choose from. The traveler can enjoy fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming or picnicking at Lake Gladewater; tour the Gladewater Museum, see Mrs. Lee's Daffodil Garden during blooming season, and for the not faint of heart skydive at the only skydiving facility in East Texas located at Gladewater Municipal Airport. Local events include: East Texas Gusher Days, PRCA Rodeo, Arts & Crafts Festival, Art Stroll, Car Cruise and "Christmas Tyme in Gusherville" activities. Community participation is with partners of the Gladewater Chamber of Commerce & Gladewater Economic Development.
