Words From Withers
A monthly market snapshot for discerning investors.
January 2017

Please join us in welcoming James MacDonald as our new team member.
We have been fortunate enough to pilfer him from Harvard University where he was working in Energy Analytics.
In addition to his work in energy he does hold a CFA (Certified Financial Analyst) and has a background in risk analytics and portfolio management.
Here are some of his Linkedin CV notes:
  • Portfolio Management, Asset Management, Procurement, Hedging Strategy, Basis, Technical Analysis
  • Quantitative risk models and concepts for Market Risk measurement and management
  • CFA charterholder since November 2013
  • Chartered FRM since January 2014
  • Advanced Excel/VBA modeling, proficient in Java, SQL, R and Python
So while we certainly will be bugging him about energy dynamics (an area that I see providing a great deal of investment opportunity over the next few years), we will absolutely be counting on him as a team member to build our expertise in the area of portfolio analysis and management.  The goal, obviously being, to improve our performance for you, our clients.
Feel free to call him or bug him to say "hello".  You can even ask him why he might be crazy enough to work with me ;-).
Regardless, we look forward to having him aboard and I guarantee the ride will be fun.
