Solving for X: The Education Project

Working Classroom's immersive bilingual performance tells real stories in a fun, inclusive way that is designed to help you think and talk about education. The performance premieres on Feb. 16 and runs through Feb. 26.
Celebrate the 65th Anniversary of Pimentel Guitars With 16 Musical Acts

On Feb. 18, 16 musical acts in genres including classical, popular, jazz, folk and flamenco will perform for the 65th anniversary of Pimentel Guitars and as a tribute to the late master guitar makers Lorenzo Pimentel and Agustin Pimentel. In partnership with Pimentel Music.

On Feb. 24-25, come experience Carnaval as the Odara Dance Ensemble and the musical group PANdemonium treat you to a dazzling spectacle of vibrant dance, engaging music, and beautiful costumes. There will be space to dance, prizes, and plenty of opportunities to become part of the show!

On Feb. 18 from 2-3 pm, Carlos will share insight into his work and process while guiding visitors through the exhibition, Fantasía Fantástica: Imaginative Spaces and Other-Worldly Collage, that showcases his elaborate collages spanning the last 27 years. This special tour is free with NHCC Museum admission purchase.

¡Salud y Sabor! is back for 2017! On Jan. 16 from 5:30-7:30 pm enjoy a free evening of food, art, and entertainment focused around Brasil. On Valentine's Day, enjoy a special free showing of the film  No eres tu, soy yo ; on Feb. 16, come watch Voces inocentes; and on Feb. 23 enjoy The Burning Season--all part of the Bank of America Free Thursday Film Series. During Hora de Cuentos on Feb. 23 at 10 am, bring your infant to preschool-aged children to hear My Tata's Guitar/La guitarra de mi tata  and De Colores and Other Latin-American Folk Songs for Children. And Feb. 17 is the monthly gathering for colcheras to enjoy an informal, community work session. In addition, five panelists will come together on Feb. 18 for La Canoa: Nuevomexicano Children's Literature: Bilingual and Bicultural in Both Past and Present.

Perla Batalla is a Grammy nominated singer-songwriter. Formerly a Leonard Cohen back-up singer, Perla consistently earns critical acclaim for her unique voice and culture-merging compositions. She has recorded seven albums and been featured in films and television.

Alice Blumenfeld   and  Abrepaso Flamenco   will use flamenco to examine how we leave fragments of ourselves with everyone we encounter and how understanding just a small fragment can make it easier to see the whole. Original music by Alex Conde on the piano, Joaquín Gallegos on the guitar and Guillermo Barrón on percussion.
