Volunteer of the Year
Jim Troxell
Congratulations to Jim Troxell, a most-deserving recipient of the GSRC "Terry Layton Volunteer of the Year" award! This honor is given to a volunteer who has done good works in support of the Grand Strand Running Club. Jim has been giving selflessly for many years by serving as the Race Director for almost all of the GSRC race events and was our liaison with the Myrtle Beach Marathon, Half- and 10K... perhaps since it's inception 19 years ago. He is a much-respected and hard-working person who has been a stalwart of the club's mission. Thank you so much for all you've done, Jim!

GSRC Training Run
Hobcaw Barony
Join us on February 4, 2017, as The Foundation of Hobcaw Barony has invited runners to come explore their massive expanse of low country woodlands in Georgetown. They have offered runners two training options, one on a hard packed dirt road that runs through the heart of the property (app. 11 miles) or another, known as the Red Trail, or the "backwoods" trail, which is a rougher road that passes through some of the most well known landmarks of the property (app. 12 miles).
There will be a $21.00 fee required for either run and runners will receive a gift certificate for 1/2 off a future tour of Hobcaw Barony.
For more details and to sign up for this extraordinary run, click the link below. We hope to see you there!

34th Annual North Myrtle Beach Winter Run 15K & 5K
January 21, 2017
The oldest race on the Grand Strand was NOT on the coldest day of the winter this year, as is its reputation! Overcast skies and temperatures in the low 60s made for a good day to run.
Ryan Farnan of MB ran a 5:44 pace (1:04:53) to lead the field of 106 finishers in the 15K. NMB's 15 year old Wilson Jenerette ran 1:04:53 (6:58 pace). In the 5K, Caleb Klatt was first of 146 runners in 18:48 (6:03 pace). Suzanne Bradshaw of Charleston beat out local Sylvia Ortuno by 6 seconds with a 22:32 (7:15 pace). The 251 finishers send special thanks to the City of North Myrtle Beach for initiating and producing this race for 34 years! The GSRC is proud to work with Race Director Gregg Barnhill on this quality event.
