Royal Vending uses dynamic routing to service pantries, a rising demand in Portland.
Today's vending technology creates opportunities for innovative operators to expand into new markets. Royal Vending, based in Portland, Ore., has used dynamic routing to expand into "pantry services." But the innovation won't stop here; the company also plans to leverage its online ordering, warehouse and delivery capabilities to add an online store for customers this year.

Owner Ryan Harrington has studied technology since he launched the company 10 years ago with two vending machines working out of his garage. In four years, he grew to 100 machines.

Since then, the company  has nearly doubled its sales every year, and presently services 300 stops.

"We really embraced technology," Harrington said. "The way technology has affected our business has really brought a lot of work in the field into our warehouse."

Harrington's wife and business partner, Michelle, brought an HR background to the business, which has helped in setting up services to meet locations' food and refreshment needs.



AAEON
AAEON's smart vending board connects sensors in vending machines to Kii's cloud-based solution.
AAEON , a manufacturer of industrial computing solutions under the ASUS Group and a member  of the Intel Internet of Things Solutions Alliance, is joining forces with Kii, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution enablement platform vendor to unveil the IoT-driven, next generation smart v ending platforms and solutions in the marketplace. 

The two companies also work with a manufacturer to provide fully integrated smart vending machines. 

This multi-pronged partnership between the organizations brings synergistic expertise and technology together to deliver a cloud-based smart vending platform.

 

Robitic Coffee Machine
The first Cafe X opened in San Francisco's Metreon shopping center.
Cafe X Technologies unveiled its first robotic café  in the U.S. by combining machine learning and robot ics, aiming to eliminate the variabilities that can bog down the coffee experience.

Working closely with local coffee roaster partners, Cafe X can consistently serve its customers in seconds with a focus on delivering beverages that taste exactly how the coffee roaster intended. The inaugural machine is located in do wntown San Francisco's Metreon shopping center, a highly trafficked, dense area which will be the blueprint for future Cafe X locations.
