Academics
Greek Festival
After studying about the ancient Greek civilization, the 6
th grade ended their unit with a Greek Festival. Students dressed as and shared information about the ancient god or goddess that they had chosen to research. For lunch, students brought in various Greek foods to share, including: sparkling cider, lamb, Greek lasagna, salads, cheese, grapes, Greek cookies and even Baklava. The sixth graders finished off the celebration by competing in shot put, javelin, and discus at the "Olympic Games." At the end of the festival, they were all winners!

The Principal's Office
We had a great Catholic Schools week. Please check out the Facebook page and website to see some of the great pictures of activities.

Our Cardinal Club will be hosting a soup supper on Saturday, February 18 from 5-7 p.m. They will be serving chili, chicken noodle, white chicken chili, tomato soup, grilled cheese and yummy homemade desserts. The Cardinal club is one of our service organizations here at St. John's for 5 th through 8 th graders. The money they earn goes to help them fund service projects throughout the school year. Please come and support the Cardinal Club.

We are busy planning for the 2017-18 school year. It is hard to believe that it is already that time of year. In alignment with our strategic planning, there will be some changes in the registration process, the tuition and some of the programs for next year. Please be on the lookout for a letter in the mail in the next couple of weeks explaining the changes. I will let you know now that we are moving registration to May 20-21, 2017. Please mark your calendars.

Athletics & Activities
Cardinal Victory!
Our 8th grade boys recently played Cornerstone Christian.  It was an EXCITING game with phenomenal playing by every member of the team!  They stole the ball, made their layups and free throws, and one player even made a 'college-level' three pointer!  The crowd was enormous and the gym was roaring! Final score 64-42.

Catholic Schools Week
Our students had a blast during Catholic Schools Week! We celebrated our community, students, nation, vocation, and faculty. Each day had a different theme, dress code, and numerous activities.

Some of the highlights included: animals brought in from Fontenelle Forest and Raptor Recovery, Bingo, and the 8th Grade vs. Staff volleyball game!

Visit our Facebook page for video highlights of each day!

Extra, Extra, Read All About It!
Our Catholic Schools Week celebration was documented in the Plattsmouth Journal earlier this month. Managing Editor, Patti Jo Peterson, wrote an article about all of the activities we participated in that week, including numerous photos from each day! We are so excited to get the word out about our amazing school and students!

Alumni in the News
CSW Alumni Visit
On the first day of Catholic Schools Week, we celebrated our First Responders. The Murray and Plattsmouth Fire Departments, the Plattsmouth Police Department, Midwest EMS, and the Cass County Sheriff's Office came to our school to present and give demonstrations to our students. Among those in attendance, was our very own Alumni, Todd Carpenter, class of '09. Todd is currently working to become a Fireman at the Plattsmouth Fire Department. We are so proud of him!

Have any STJB Alumni news? We would love to hear it!
