College Application Workshop presents new seminars
Weekly help with choosing a college

The College Application Workshop continues its series of mini-seminars on Wednesdays after school. Free pizza will be provided and no registration is required, so send your student along!

TODAY! Wednesday, February 15: Bridging the Gap

So you're graduating...now what? Believe it or not, you don't have to attend college right after graduation to be successful. In fact, many colleges encourage students to defer schooling for up to a year to explore their interests and gain real life experience. Whether you decided to study abroad at a wildlife sanctuary in South Africa, or stay local and provide service to inner city schools, a Gap year can help you realize your interests. Come hear Ms. Kristjanson on February 15 in the College & Career Center at 12:40 pm to see if Gap Year is an option for you.

Wanted: Senior Party 2018 volunteers

Do you have a Senior next year? We are looking for 2-3 parents to chair the 2018 Senior Party. Please contact  VPPrograms@lwhs.org for more information.

The Senior Party is an annual tradition planned and sponsored by the LWHS PTSA. For many years, nearly 200 of our graduating seniors have boarded buses after the ceremony, and spent a fun-filled all-nighter with friends, surprises, food and entertainment. As parents who send our students off, we know they are in a safe, chaperoned, drug- and alcohol-free environment to celebrate their graduation.

LWHS News & Activities
Attendance reminders
Vacations and illness
With the mid-winter holiday break, don't forget that if your student is going to be out three or more days, a pre-arranged absence form must be filled out in advance and turned in to the attendance office before the first day of the absence, in order to ensure that your students absences will be excused. The pre-arranged absence forms can be found on the LWHS website or in the attendance office.

Also, with the cold and flu season upon us, please remember students should be fever-free for 24 hours before they return to school.

UK trip opportunity

Does your son or daughter have the travel bug? If so, we are taking a group of students to Scotland and Ireland through Education First during Spring Break 2018. This is not only a great opportunity for your student to see the world, but it is also a great way for them to make memories with friends and learn about other cultures. The best part is that this trip is not only for LW students. Friends from other schools, other states and even family can also join in. We currently still have room for more travelers and are excited to share this experience! Visit the trip website for more information. Please contact Erin Day, LW ceramics teacher, with any questions.
