SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Carim Burton

What are you most looking forward to in college?
I am looking forward to preparing for my career as an architect.

What problems do you want to solve as an architect?

I would like to design and build homes for the homeless.

You were accepted to several colleges at an on-the-spot admissions event.  Congratulations! What advice do you have for students attending on-the-spot admissions events?
I recommend students demonstrate confidence and look professional.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Wendy Whittemore

What degree did you earn?  From what college?  Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro

What is your dream job? I was very lucky, I got to do my dream job for my career: working with great people and helping college students achieve their academic and career goals.  I discovered in the early 1980's what was then a new career called academic advising. It allowed me to utilize my counseling/advising skills in a college setting and I loved it. I ended up doing that the last 30 years of my career at the University of Maryland.

Describe one interesting fact about yourself. I almost joined the Navy - twice. But I got nervous and didn't do it.
