Tau Sigma Delta's Digital Design Help Desk is every Wednesday in the Barn from 7pm - 10pm. Open to all students, TSD members are available to help you with any questions or issues relating to design software, including Revit, Rhino, AutoCad, Adobe Suites and more!

STUDENT NEWS
Austin Arens, a second-year landscape architecture student, will be honored on March 30th at this year’s Research at the Capitol Day event for his project titled, “The Role of Service Learning in Instruction at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.”  This event is hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research who select 25 projects that represent important work happening in Nebraska. Congratulations Austin!

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
This spring one of Landscape Architecture’s professional electives has spread beyond UNL. Covering climate change to stormwater regulations, Introduction to Green Infrastructure (LARC 497/597) seeks to integrate plant and soil systems into urban infrastructure. The course expands and broadens the green roof and green infrastructure courses previously taught by Dr. Richard Sutton, a current faculty member, and Professor Steve Rodie, a past faculty member of LARC who now holds a courtesy appointment in the program. AZURE Competition:

AZURE, the influential contemporary design and architecture magazine, announces the opening of submissions to the 2017 AZ AWARDS. The 7th annual international competition celebrates excellence in design.

* Entries are juried by a panel of architects & designers at the forefront of their professions
* Finalists and Winners are published in the AZ Awards Annual issue and are recognized at the AZ Awards Gala in Toronto on June 23, 2017.
* Student winner receives a $5000 cash prize.

The theme of the contest is sacred architecture in Senegal (Africa), in fact the name of the competition is "Kaira Looro Competition" (Architecture for Peace "in Mandinka language). The initiative has two objectives:  the development of research in architecture  on issues of social emergencies and sustainable architecture, and  contributing to a humanitarian emergency  in Senegal that our organization wants to solve, in fact competition all entries will be entirely donated to the humanitarian project "A Bridge for life" which aims to improve living conditions  80,000 people in emergency . IDEC Video Competition
Call for Entries

This video competition seeks compelling entries that will engage a general audience to think differently about the interior design knowledge base and the impacts of our expertise. This year we are asking entrants to choose one specific content area and show the difference that interior design research can make!

Deadline: Midnight, Feb. 19

This  program is intended to challenge students, working individually or in teams, to explore a variety of design issues related to the use of steel in design and construction.

Attention Students:
The Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experience (UCARE) program provides undergraduate researchers the opportunity to learn from faculty mentors and engage in research and creative projects during the summer and academic year and receive a $2,400 stipend. Students with 30-120 credit hours and a cumulative GPA of 2.75 by the end of the spring 2017 semester are encouraged to apply.

Summer Serviceship Opportunities with the Nebraska Rural Futures Institute

The University of Nebraska Rural Futures Institute is offering great serviceship opportunities for this summer. You can get paid $3,500 to spend two weeks in training and nine weeks at a rural site (free housing) engaging in community work.  They are looking for students with a variety of interests in communications, marketing, journalism, public policy, leadership, etc.  It's a great way to get career experience and paid! This program provides undergraduate and graduate scholarships to students pursuing degrees in fields related to construction. These can include: engineering, architecture, construction management, business, sustainable building management, and more.

Tom Cory Scholarship

Tom Cory was a founding member of the Architectural Precast Association (APA) and in his honor, the APA developed the Tom Cory Scholarship. This $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to one deserving student in an architecture program. If you would like to donate to the scholarship fund, please contact us.
