Doping in Sport: 
How the Culture Might Change

On Thursday, April 13th,  The Foundation for Global Sports Development will host a day-long symposium in Malibu, California on the topic of doping in sport, which will include discussions about doping at Rio 2016. 

Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee, will deliver the event's keynote presentation.
Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee, will provide the keynote presentation, which will likely include insight into his decision this past summer to ban Russian athletes from participating in the Paralympic Games. 

Following Sir Philip's speech, two panels comprised of sports attorneys, journalists, anti-doping regulators, athletes, and team executives will discuss the recent research on doping and explore the practical, political, legal, and ethical concerns around doping.

The symposium, which will be held at Pepperdine University in  Malibu, California , is also supported by  Sheppard, Mullin, Richter, and Hampton, LLP , and  Pepperdine University School of Law .

This symposium is approved for 4 hours of MCLE credit with payment of a $50 fee.

GSD Announces $250,000 Grant to Childhelp 


As part of our ongoing efforts to support youth in need, we have committed $250,000 to the Childhelp Merv Griffin Village in Beaumont, California. 

The Childhelp Merv Griffin Village has been dedicated to the 24-hours-a-day treatment of abused, neglected and at-risk children of California since 1978. Committed to creating a genuine community environment, the village houses as many as 84 children ranging in age from 6 to 15. Through ranch, art, recreational therapy and intensive treatment, children are afforded brighter futures.

This tremendous grant announcement was made at the 2017 Drive the Dream Gala, Childhelp's annual fundraiser. This year the gala raised $1.3 million dollars to support youth in need. 

We were joined by Candace Cable, Kathy Johnson-Clarke, and Esther Lofgren, three members of our outstanding group of Champion Ambassadors.
