World Premiere of Student's Original Composition in February
ChiArts junior Justin Petrovych will premiere his original piece Carpathian Sunrise on February 17th at the Large Ensemble Concert in the ChiArts Auditorium.

Inspired by his visit to the Carpathian Mountains in his native Ukraine this past summer, Justin sought to convey the sounds of the mountains at sunrise. "I thought that the birds could be flutes, and a rain stick would be like water in a stream," he says, noting that, although he is a percussionist, he initially composed the piece on piano and will be playing piano during Sunrise's performance in concert, accompanied by the ChiArts Band.

Justin is a two-year awardee of the Andrew Bird Scholarship and an ILMEA All-State performer. Tickets for the Large Ensemble Concert are available here.
ChiArts Hosts Alumni Visit
Before the holidays, ChiArts was blessed to have over 70 alumni from all four graduated classes return to school to connect with faculty, staff, and current students.
Mr. Ochoa gave many of the older alums a tour of the building, Music alums jammed with Mr. Bruno's jazz students and gave advice to younger members of the conservatory, and all had a chance to catch up on the successes of their classmates.
We're proud of all of our alumni. Can't wait to see you again soon!

Summer Camp is Back!
ChiArts Summer Camp and Summer Dance Intensive is returning for a repeat performance this July!

Campers in kindergarten through fifth grade explore Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts though themed weeks before showcasing to their families all that they've learned during their time at ChiArts. Middle school campers select one of Dance, Theatre, Visual Arts, Voice, Band, or Guitar for a more focused (but still fun!) experience.

Summer Dance Intensive is a four-week program for dancers ages 13 and up, in which dancers study Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip-hop, and African before performing a final showcase for family and friends.
