Innovation - Renovation

CARE SUITES

This is a new space in our place.  This area originally was created to house small dogs and puppies; however, it usually went u noccuppied the  majority of time.  In order, to provide more space for dogs of all sizes, we renovated the area into Care Suites.  These Suites can now accommodate large and small breeds.

The Care Suites also allow us to house a momma with her litter of puppies without separating  the group.  Between each of the rooms  there is a divider that can be opened to turn two medium enclosures into one large space.

We would like to thank the Dubuque Racing Association, the James B. & Melita A. McDonough Foundation, and Pet Smart Charities for donating the funds needed to renovate this space into temporary homes for our animals. We would also like to recognize  Dubuque Bank & Trust for the campaign gift that made this space possible.

Furry Felines

We are still promoting our feline friends. C ats' adoption fees are donation only.

We still have many furry felines who are looking for their fur-ever homes.  We are helping another shelter in Iowa and have taken several cats from them. So come fall in love with one of our cats who are in need of a family and a loving home.

Pictured above is one of our furry felines available for adoption, Taylor. She is a gorgeous 3 year old domestic medium-hair mix. Her markings are gorgeous; she is white with black and some tiger.  Come meet her today!

Who will be in our second annual "In the Doghouse" event?
February 24th - March 24th

On March 24 2016, nine company leaders have agreed to be thrown in the Doghouse for the second annual "In the Doghouse" event to support the Dubuque Regional Humane Society.  By raising money for their "impound fees," they will be helping provide necessary medical treatment and care for our animals.

The money raised will help us to continue our programming for Humane Education. We give children the tools to provide safe, responsible care for the animals in our community. Humane Education programming is tailored for the Dubuque Community School LEAP Program as well as other groups such as: Multicultural Family Center, YMCA, Boy and Girl Scouts and other youth clubs/organizations.

"Please no BATH"

Bathe your pets as little as possible during cold spells. Washing too often can remove essential oils and increase the chance of developing dry, flaky skin. If your pooch must be bathed, ask your vet to recommend a moisturizing shampoo and/or rinse.
