Representative Spotlight
Emma Gerrety

Each month the Drug-Free Coalition will spotlight one of our six 2016-2017 RISE representatives.  RISE stands for Role Models Impacting Student Excellence.   Click here for more information about the RISE program and the 2016-2017 representatives.    


Emma Gerrety is a Senior at Central Catholic High School. She was nominated by her principal, Mr. Neil Wagner, who describes Emma as a compassionate, disciplined, honest, and vibrant young lady.  

Emma is a volunteer with Caregiver Companion, and an active member of Interact, a service club at Central Catholic.  Emma excels academically, and is first in her class.  She is a talented athlete and is known as a leader among her teammates.

Legislative Update

January marks the beginning of the 2017 legislative session, and drug and alcohol topics are prevalent throughout the list of proposed bills.  

Sunday sales (SB 83), Opiate Addiction Treatment (SB 455, SB 446), Uses of Hemp oil for treatment of epilepsy (SB 15, HB 1148, HB 1177), Prevention Programs in Schools (SB 62, SB 469, HB 1282) are a few of the current bills that are related to substance abuse.  Click here for a complete list of substance abuse related bills, as they stand.
