University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc: The Office of Continuing Education, in collaboration with the UW-Extension Master Gardeners, presents their 3rd Annual Educational Garden Expo on Saturday, March 11, from 9:00am - 2:30pm at the UW-Manitowoc campus. The Chamber of Manitowoc County: The Chamber Ambassadors' 14th Annual Evening to Wine Down Scholarship Fundraiser takes place on Saturday, March 4. Each year the Ambassadors Committee presents $1,000 scholarships for graduating high school  seniors that are pursuing a four-year degree and $500 scholarships for students pursuing a two-year degree. Lester Public Library: At 6:00pm Wednesday, February 15, our Local History Alive! presentation is "The People Who Came Before: Indians Along the Lakeshore" featuring Professor Emeritus Kerry Trask. Dr. Trask provides a fascinating overview of pre-European human life in our county and goes on to describe Indian settlements after the arrival of the French fur traders. Also, our Hour of Code computer science program for adults and youth (eight and older) continues at 10:30am Saturday. No registration is required for either program.
 
Rahr-West Art Museum presents the first exhibit of their annual Youth Art Series February 26 through March 19. All galleries will feature Manitowoc Public School District's elementary and secondary students' artwork. Other exhibits coming up include the Big East Conference, April 2 through April 12, in the Ruth West Gallery; Rahr-West Art Students, April 2 through May 17, in the Lounge Gallery; Eastern WI Conference, April 15 through April 26, in the Ruth West Art Gallery; and St. Francis of Assisi School, May 17 through May 28, in the Ruth West Gallery. Felician Village: Although estimates vary, approximately five million Americans may have Alzheimer's disease, a form of dementia. As the leader of dementia care in Manitowoc County, Felician Village introduces the 2017 Caregiver College. A variety of classes are held on the Felician Village campus, free of charge, to help those affected by this disease as well as those caring for them.
