The Grande Prairie Rotaract Club is excited to announce that they will be hosting a free event on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017 at 7:00pm.  Mitty Chang, a 28-year old motivational speaker from San Francisco, will be giving a speech on the importance of trying new things 3 times.  If you are a young adult and interested in attending, please drop-in to the Alumni Lounge (room C224) at the Grande Prairie Regional College that evening.  There will be pizza, snacks, and refreshments provided and it is a great chance to meet and connect with other young adults in the community. The event is completely free to attend but we do encourage attendees to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Student Food Bank.  We hope to see you there!

800 Volunteers Needed -
We need your support!

On February 25th the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie is teaming up with Stop Hunger Now to assist in a global initiative to help roughly the 795 million people or 1 in 9 that suffer from chronic hunger.

We have a goal to package 285,125 meals that will impact the lives of people around the globe, who are in need of emergency food crisis relief and we need YOU!

We are asking for only 2 HOURS of your time on February 25th. Anyone can participate 4 years or older. What a great opportunity to get the whole family involved! We have seated positions for seniors, disabled, or those who need to sit.

What to expect? The event consists of approximately 800 workers total, 200 at each of our four shifts (9am, 12pm, 3pm or 7pm) creating an assembly line to bag a meal that will feed 6 people. Each bag consists of healthy ingredients including rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix that includes 23 essential vitamins and minerals into small meal packages. The assembling happens very quickly and we plan to achieve a goal of 285,125 packaged meals in one short day. Just by the efforts of a few members of our community pitching in for 2 hours.

Where? D Coy Armory - 9005-101 Street Grande Prairie

How to get involved? It's easy! Register online here
http://events.stophungernow.org/RotaryClubGrandePrairie  - Choose the time that best works for you, get your friends, family, kids, neighbors, classmates, sports teams and more involved. Remember it is only 2 hours of your time to change someones life!
