"I enjoy working with images of places, buildings and objects that have a rustic, worn or historic feeling.  I work realistically, trying to bring this sense of age through the medium I'm working in.  I feel satisfied when I think my style gives the same feeling as my subjects"

Artist Biography:

From the rustic beauty of his native West Virginia to historic buildings and scenes along the eastern seaboard, Terry's watercolor painting and original hand-colored etchings reflect his own life and memories.  His soft colors and gentle lines match his style to his subject matter.

Terry has been involved with color all his life.  With a university major in biology and a minor in chemistry, he began a career in the cosmetic industry.  His technical and aesthetic fascination with color led to painting and eventually to producing hand-colored etchings.  Terry's etchings are usually hand-colored and many are produced with up to six plates.  All of his plates are prepared by etching in either copper or zinc, then hand-rubbed and printed on 100% rag paper.  Each one is then hand-colored with watercolor or gouache, making every etching he produces an original.

Terry's work has won juried competitions in North Carolina as well as several purchase awards.  He has participated in many juried shows through out the south east and has displayed and sold his paintings and etchings in many galleries.  He was published in the Artist of the Carolinas Volume I.  Several of his watercolors have been produced in limited edition prints.  Terry has recently moved to Myrtle Beach and now calls it home.
