Mark your calendars! 2017 Bio & Tech Beers

SAVE THE DATE! The 2017 Bio & Tech Beer events will be held on April 12, July 19, and December 6 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Queen City Brewery, 703B Pine Street, Burlington.

Come to one of Burlington's coolest breweries and enjoy networking with others in the biotech and technology fields while tasting craft beer and pizza!  Whether you're new to the Vermont biosciences and technology community or want to catch up with old acquaintances we look forward to welcoming you.  Bio & Tech Beer events are hosted by Vermont Biosciences Alliance and Vermont Technology Alliance.
8th Annual Vermont Brain Bee  The 2017 Vermont Brain Bee will be held on February 18, 2017 at the UVM Medical Education Building.   Come support the next generation of Vermont neuroscientists! The Brain Bee is an opportunity for high school students who are interested in brain science to show off their knowledge. The winner goes on to the National Brain Bee held during Brain Awareness Week. This event is organized by the Vermont Brain Bee Committee.
2017 UVM Invention 2 Venture Conference   The 2017 I2V Conference will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at University of Vermont's Dudley H. Davis Center Silver Maple Ballroom.  Come listen to entrepreneurs, researchers, and business leaders from across New England talk about how to protect, develop, and finance new ideas. This half-day conference uses twelve roundtable discussion-based workshops to encourage networking and dialogue. The I2V conference is hosted by the UVM Office of Technology Commercialization.

Industry News
The Emerging Leaders Initiative is a free, seven-month executive training program for entrepreneurs and business leaders actively looking to grow their businesses. The goal of the course is to help existing business owners develop the full potential of their small businesses. Participants will work with mentors, attend workshops, and network with municipal and financial leaders to develop new tools and strategies to take their businesses to the next level.
Whatever role, skill, or experience you currently have, this course will teach you how to work smarter and faster at every business level. The three-day course teaches how to create, pitch, test, and implement ideas by using core skills from the leadership field of Innovation Engineering. The Innovation Engineering Quick Start course will be held at GlobalFoundaries from February 27 - March 1, 2017.   

Is there a Vermont bioscience business you want to acknowledge for their outstanding work? Consider nominating them for the 2016 Deane C. Davis Outstanding Vermont Business of the Year Award! The award recognizes a Vermont business for success in growth, commitment to the Vermont community and environment, and creating a positive work atmosphere. All nominations must be submitted by midnight on March 4, 2017. 
Education

The University of Vermont Office of the Vice President for Research has launched the fifth year of the SPARK-VT initiative with a call for proposals for innovative projects with a high potential for commercialization. The initiative also hosts regular workshops covering key skills in entrepreneurship. Details can be found at the SPARK-VT website

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences President T. Gregory Dewey joined other Vermont leaders in releasing a statement in support of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. The ACPHS President signed on behalf of ACPHS' Vermont campus, located in Colchester. The statement is an acknowledgement and reaffirmation of Vermont's commitment to pioneering social justice.
