Mission Directives
God gave his followers a very clear directive of how we should live in this world and how we should bless others. God described this kind of life style as a form of worship. The kind of worship God desired was formed around our relationships with others. This worship or "Fasting" as God describes it in Isaiah 58 is focused on helping others.
Verse 6- "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice, and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? We are to help people who are enslaved and burdened by oppression.
Verse 7- Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
We are to feed the hungry, help the homeless, provide clothes for others and help our own family members!
These directives are very clear and what the people of God should be about. These gifts to others form our worship to God. So, when you think about it, the calling of God is simple. We are called to spread the name and love of Jesus by blessing others. When their needs are met the Kingdom of Jesus is lifted up. Those in need are drawn to Jesus and find a lasting relationship with Him and with those who are a part of the family of God!

Port Orchard Homeless Committee
On the third Tuesday of every month a group of pastors, city councilmen, the mayor, law enforcement and many other service organizations in Kitsap County gather to discuss the needs of the homeless in our area. It is such a blessing to gather with other church leaders and our community leadership to make plans to develop multiple levels of services for the many displaced, homeless and needy in the South Kitsap Community. There are three developments that our committee has been working on over the last few months.
1. Last October, Port Orchard Mayor Putaansuu asked Ekklesia to spearhead the development of the South Kitsap Severe Weather Shelter for the homeless. This program has now been operational for the last three weeks with the help of several churches and the Department of Emergency Management.
2. The Homeless Committee is also developing the placement of a portable hygiene trailer for use by the homeless. This hygiene trailer will be placed at the First Lutheran Church parking lot several days per month and provide a place for showers and bathroom facilities.
3. The homeless committee is also developing a new hotel voucher system that all local churches can contribute to. The vouchers will provide emergency access to stay for one or two nights at a local hotel. This will help our many local churches coordinate their efforts as the displaced seek assistance to stay in a hotel.
There are many long term goals that our committee has discussed such as a Tiny House Village but these will take time. Let us pray for the efforts of our leadership as we seek God's guidance to serve the needy.

February Blessings
It's that time of year when Spring doesn't feel far away. Many are approaching our ministry with requests for assistance and we will do our best to help. May the Lord guide our work to bless those in need and spread the love of Jesus in our community. Thank you to so many people for supporting our work as we pour ourselves into our community and offer a willing hand of service. May the coming weeks offer you and your family new ways to share the Kingdom of God.
