Two Important Updates From The US Department of Health And Human Services
 
ClinicalTrials.gov Requirement Announcement
 
The effective date to comply with Clinical Trials Reporting Final Rule is January 18th.  If you are an Investigator doing interventional research at Rutgers University, you may have to register/update your research study.  The Final Rule broadens the range of studies that must be registered, requires submission of additional registration and summary results information, and sets forth legal consequences for non-compliance. Responsible parties have 90 days to comply.  Read more  here
   
Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects - UPDATED REGULATIONS
 
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and 15 other federal agencies issued a final rule to update regulations that safeguard individuals who participate in research.  The new rule is intended to strengthen protections for people who volunteer to participate in research, while ensuring that the oversight system does not add inappropriate administrative burdens, particularly to low-risk research. The regulations were published in the federal register as of January 19, 2017.  Read the new rule here.

Busch Biomedical Grant Program

The Busch Biomedical Grant program is designed to enhance health-related research at the University and to strengthen the competitive position of faculty members who seek external research funds.  The Busch Biomedical Grant program will support research projects up to $40,000 for two  years.  Proposals are due on  March 21, 2017 . Interdisciplinary Research Group Pilot Program

The Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) is sponsoring a universitywide pilot program to stimulate the creation of interdisciplinary research groups around any topic that is likely to be supported by significant future federal and private funding. Existing interdisciplinary research groups may also apply. Applications are due  March 6, 2017 The full announcement and application is posted here.

Advanced Computing

The  Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC) 
announced the next phase in the university's advanced computing initiative. Early this year, OARC plans to unveil Amarel, a condominium-style advanced computing environment developed to serve wide-ranging research needs and named in honor of Saul Amarel, a Rutgers pioneer in artificial intelligence and research computing. Amarel will be available to any investigator or student with projects requiring research computing resources on any Rutgers campus. Learn more  here.

From Rutgers Libraries: Do I need a Product Key to Install EndNote for Windows?

Rutgers University Libraries are licensed to provide download access to EndNote for all Rutgers users. Endnote is a multifunction citation management tool that collects and organizes references from online and other sources into a searchable personal database of references. 

To install EndNote from the libraries link use your NetId to download the program. If you are asked to enter a product key while installing EndNote, you are not installing the program properly.  Please follow Tips for Installations .
