Celebrate Today

National Do A Grouch A Favor Day

Everyone knows a grouch, and some of us are guilty of occasionally being one. February 16 is a day to be especially kind to those grumpy people around us.

Some people may have it in their nature to be grouchy all the time, and today is a day to exercise more patience with those grouches than you may normally do. Others are simply going through a rough patch, and this is a great opportunity to bring them a bit of cheer. Chances are, you'll make yourself happier too by doing an act of kindness.

Celebrate by doing something that will make even the grouchiest person's day better. Turn those frowns upside down!

Heart of Danville Main Street Program names new director

The Heart of Danville Main Street Program recently named Interim Director, and former Project Manager, Nicholas Wade as the new Executive Director of the organization.

Wade, a Danville native, graduated from Boyle County High School in 2008.

He earned two degrees at Eastern Kentucky University,
a bachelor's in Public Relations and a master's in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education, before working remotely as an associate publicist for a pr firm out of Nashville.
In 2013, he began volunteering with the Heart of Danville, and in February 2016 he officially joined the organization as project manager. In that role he was responsible for coordinating all Heart of Danville events, overseeing the annual membership drive and all forms of communication and public relations.

Throughout 2016, Wade aided the Heart of Danville in planning several key community events, including the Great American Brass Band Festival and the Kentucky State BBQ Festival. He also contributed to revamping the organization's marketing and communications efforts.

Since October 2016, Wade has served as Interim Director following the departure of previous Executive Director Bethany Rogers.

"During Nick's time at the Heart of Danville, he has impressed me, the Board and the community with his drive, his passion for Main Street and our entire community," said Valery McMann, chair of the Heart of Danville Board of Directors. "We look forward to seeing the growth of our organization under his continued leadership."
