2017/18 NBBQA Board Election Results 
In accordance with NBBQA Bylaws, our 2017/18 Board of Directors election process is now complete.  Our thanks to all who participated as candidates and to those who voted in our 2017/18 NBBQA Board of Directors election. 178 ballots were cast out of a possible 537 eligible active member voter, which translates to a 32% turnout!.  

Below you will find our election results as well as our final 2017/18 Board of Directors who will take office at I Am BBQ 2017 in Fort Worth next month.

Kosher Food Goes Up in Smoke

A kosher restaurant is bringing Texas barbecue to New York-by way of the Borscht Belt.
Main House, set to open this month, will serve up ribs with cornbread and peppery potato salad to diners in Mill Basin, Brooklyn. But its owners learned about barbecue years ago, miles away from the city.

Franklin Barbecue sure does sell a lot of barbecue,  according  to new food website Taste, which put together an infographic covering the smoked meats joint's statistic. This includes the number of pounds of barbecue made in a year (650,000), customers in a year (300,000), and when the line usually starts (6 a.m.). It also includes quotes from pitmaster Aaron Franklin himself, including the fact that his cholesterol is "pretty good."

Now they're waiting to see if it pays off.  Among the final actions of the Obama administration were new rules making it easier for chicken farmers-who exist inside a commercial vise constructed by agribusiness-to sue the companies for anti-competitive behavior.
