FROM THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

MEDICATION REMINDER : Students are not permitted to carry on their person any medication with the exception of epi-pens and inhalers.  Please make sure that all medications are given to the nurse with doctors' prescription orders.

EARLY DISMISSAL:   In light of the active flu season this year, it is important to remember that students may not leave the building or school grounds during school hours without an early dismissal pass, nurse's dismissal pass, or administrative permission. Students are not permitted to contact their parents directly to ask them to come to school to pick them up because they are not feeling well.  Students must see the nurse if they are not feeling well and she will determine if it is necessary for the student to go home.  Students who contact their parents via cell phone, without permission, will be subject to demerits.  If a parent comes to school to pick up a student, it will be considered a regular, not nurse, early dismissal. Parents and students may not request more than five (5) early dismissals per year.

Parking Lot Reminder:  Parents are reminded that they must use the parent drop off lane in the rear of the building to drop off students in the morning to ensure the safety of all students.  Please pull forward to the top of the lane so that traffic does not back up into the side parking lot.  Do not cut through the student parking area. Students should not exit parent driven vehicles in the travel lanes of the student parking area; this jeopardizes the safety of the students.  Also in the morning, please refrain from exiting through the main entrance. Doing so creates a dangerous situation for incoming buses, parents, and staff.  Your cooperation is imperative.
Report Cards:
Semester Report Cards are posted on Ren Web.
African American History Month
Student Contest
Students may choose one African American hero or event and discuss how this person or event helped to shape our country and society today.  Submissions may be completed in one of two ways:

1.  Students may submit an essay of 500 words or less describing their person or event and how the person or event helped to shape American history.

2.  Students may submit a 60 second video that depicts their choice of person or event and the historical significance of their choice.

All entries are due on  February 24 to Mr. Wallace.  Entries may dropped off in the Office of Student Affairs.  A panel of faculty and administration will review all entries.  Winners will be announced on  February 28.  Prizes will be awarded for top entries.

ALL PARENTS: TRANSPORTATION FUNDING-PLEASE READ
WE NEED YOUR VOICE!
back-school-bus.jpg

Problem
1.  Current Catholic school students can only obtain a ride to school for a maximum of $884 per student.

2.  Many bus companies and school districts are unwilling/unable to transport students at the $884 rate.

3. The ceiling should match cost of living increases, which has not happened since the 2007-2008 school year.

What can you do?
Ask Governor to increase funding for nonpublic school transportation in his Fiscal Year 2017 Budget.  If your family has been affected by this problem, or you know of families who have, tell the Governor the details.  Even if the bussing problem does not apply to you, but you believe in Catholic education, please contact Governor Christie.

How can you contact Governor Christie?
Use the NJCC automated Voter Voice system:

Call:    609-292-6000

IMPORTANT REMINDERS: BUS FORMS & TUITION CONTRACT
Families in grades 9, 10, and 11 received a tuition contract and bus form in the mail last week. Homeroom teachers will be reminding students to bring these in. Please return these forms to school at your earliest convenience. The bus form especially is crucial to organizing transportation for the coming year.
FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE
Spring sports physicals are due to the nurse's office by March 2nd.

11th grade parents are reminded that all Juniors need a physical exam.  If your child had a physical that's under one year old, please have a physical form completed by your doctor based on that physical.  If your child hasn't had a recent physical, please schedule an appointment.  Physical forms are available in the nurse's office and on the school website under "Athletics."  The same form is used whether or not your child plays a sport.  Please return completed forms as soon as possible.  Please call the nurse with any questions.
