Hey Spartans! We thank you for taking the time to learn about our Constitution by attending our open forum meetings.  We hope that you felt the discussion was beneficial. The changes we've suggested will allow SGA to tighten communication, enhance internal collaboration, and ultimately better our engagement with you, the students. Listed below are the changes that will help us move forward as an organization:

  • Structure Change from 50 to 35 seats
  • Removed Adult and Honors College Senator Positions
  • Vice President can appoint any senators (not just at-large) to fill vacant seats
  • President, Vice President (& Chairman Pro-Tempore), Attorney General changed to 3.0
    • Credit Hours Changed from 9 to 12 for undergrad students, 6 to 9 for graduate students
  • For Executive Board,  Legislative Board, and Senators' GPA changed to 2.75
    • Credit Hours Changed from 9 to 12 for undergrad students, 6 to 9 for graduate students
  • President and Vice President must run as a ticket:
    • All campaign material has to be submitted to elections committee before they can start campaigning
    • Each individual running for President or VP must meet the requirements to run for the position
Red Cross Blood Drive
The Elliott University Center will host its third Red Cross Blood Drive of the 2016-17 academic year on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Cone Ballroom. 

Schedule your donation appointment today and help the EUC reach its 250-pint goal! For those wishing to donate double red blood cells, the Red Cross is currently accepting only blood types A negative; B negative; O positive; and O negative.

Be sure to come prepared when giving blood. Have a light meal and plenty to drink. Bring your Red Cross donor card (optional), driver’s license or two other forms of identification. And bring the names of any medications you are currently taking.

The chair, from MetroNap, is a not-so-simple recliner that vibrates, plays music and has a helmet-like “privacy visor” to help you fall asleep. It can be found at schools including Wesleyan University, Stanford University Graduate School of Medicine, University of California-San Francisco Carnegie Mellon, the Savannah College of Art and Design and, most recently right here at UNCG!

19th Annual Spartan Summit Climbing Competition 
A favorite event of Outdoor Adventures, the Spartan Summit, is a rock climbing competition open to UNCG students and Kaplan Center members. The Outdoor Adventures staff works hard in creating a fun and positive atmosphere for all participants. All climbers receive free food and great giveaways. Free HIV Testing
Join us from  11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17  in the  EUC  Cone Ballroom for free HIV &  STI  testing. Co-sponsored by the  Guilford  County Department of Public Health, Wesley Lutheran Campus Ministry, Triad Health Project, and Student Health Services, students can receive screenings for HIV, Chlamydia, Syphilis, and Gonorrhea.  
Madden XBox Tournament

Red Flag Campaign 
The Red Flag Campaign uses a bystander intervention strategy to address and prevent sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking on college campuses. The campaign encourages friends and other campus community members to say something when they see warning signs ("red flags") for sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking in a friend’s relationship.  http://www.theredflagcampaign.org/

The commUNITY dialogue series is a campus-wide monthly dialogue series for UNCG students to build relationships across difference while discussing hot topics related to diversity and other current events affecting our UNCG community. Participants can a ttend an event once a month to be entered into drawing for a gift card.

Are you interested in living on campus again in 2017-18? The PRIORITY housing application opens on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. and closes on Feb. 11 at 11:59 p.m. Meeting that deadline will allow you choose a room before students in all other categories.

"Brown is the New White"
The "Brown is the New White" program will expand upon the previous conversation about interracial and intercultural coalition building. What would you like to see changed, that would make this diverse campus, an inclusive campus? What can you do to bring about that change? Sarah Carrig, the Faculty-In-Residence who lives in Spartan Village, will host part 2 of the very engaging program, "Brown is the New White" from on Feb. 7, 4-6 p.m., in EUC Cone Ballrooms B&C. Part 1 is not needed to join in Part 2.  
​Spread the Word - Find A Roommate
For students interested in sharing a room/suite/apartment in campus housing, there is a brand new resource: The UNCG HRL Find a Roommate Facebook group. The purpose of this group is to provide UNCG students with a private forum where they can connect with other students who will be attending UNCG in the fall. 

This group provides a place for positive interaction for students to meet other Spartans and possibly find a roommate for campus housing.  This is a closed group. Interested in being an RA for 2017-18? 
There is still time to apply. Applications are due Jan. 31 at 11:59 p.m. The Resident Advisor (RA) is responsible for a living area housing approximately 25-75 students in one of the University residence halls. The RA works as an integral member of the Housing and Residence Life team and is required to demonstrate professionalism as they assist students on a daily basis. RAs articulate to residents the philosophy and policies of Housing and Residence Life and UNC Greensboro. Vagina Monologues
Want to have a great night for a great cause? Make plans now to attend the 4th Annual Vagina Monologues, presented by Housing and Residence Life and the Residence Hall Association and sponsored by Elliott University Center. The production raises funds to support Clara House/Piedmont Family Services (a local domestic violence shelter) as well as the national V-Day campaign.

Breaking Barriers Events
There is so much to see and do the whole month of February in the residence halls. Breaking Barriers is Housing and Residence Life’s tradition of social justice programing, including recognition of World Day of Social Justice. Breaking Barriers promotes social justice through the deconstruction of the barriers that prevent the interaction and growth of people, cultures, regions, neighborhoods and campuses.
