Vincent Brown and Erica Moody to be Featured at Miller Legacy Dinner on February 28th

Recent Honors College graduate, Vincent Brown and current KSU Honors student, Erica Moody, have been  chosen for recognition due to their academic achievements at the (Zell) Miller Legacy Dinner on February 28th. 

Vincent Brown earned his B.A. in Integrative Studies with a dual concentration in French and Korean languages in December 2016. Vincent's plans for the future include traveling to South Korea for a minimum of one year where he will teach English. Additionally, he plans to attend graduate school to study Urban Planning and later return to the United States to help improve national infrastructure and transportation networks.

Erica Moody is a current KSU Honors Student and will graduate in May 2017 as a Coles Business Scholar/Economics major.  Following her graduation, Erica hopes to pursue postgraduate study in the field of Behavioral Economics. In particular, she hopes to study the impacts of poverty on rational decision making, and see how these insights can be used to improve public policy. 

Both Honors students, have also been selected as Semi-finalists for the esteemed Fulbright Scholarship, meaning that their applications have been chosen by the National Screening Committees to be forwarded to the host country Fulbright Commissions and/or embassies for final selection.

KSU Honors Student and Biology Major, Mik Chari, to Attend Veterinary School

Mik Chari is a non-traditional KSU Honors student in her final year at KSU. Growing up, Mik was passionate about music which led her to open a music shop with her brother and sister called "Music by Tritone" in Roswell, Georgia. However, a fter volunteering with Zoo Atlanta in 2012, she discovered she had a passion for animals. 

In 2014, Mik made the decision to apply to Kennesaw State University and the KSU Honors Program to pursue an undergraduate degree in biology. She quickly flourished in the University Honors environment at KSU and says her favorite part of being an Honors student is the "personalized attention from the Honors faculty and Honors Colloquium."

Mik is currently busy with her senior capstone where she is studying the topic of Zebrafish and how their behavior is affected by amphetamines. Her plans after graduation include attending veterinary school. Mik has been accepted to the University of Georgia, Louisiana State University, North Carolina State University, and Auburn University.

Lindsey Cobb, KSU Honors Program Alumna, Pursuing Graduate School in London, England

Lindsey Cobb, a KSU Honors College graduate, credits the Honors College with helping her discover her passion of international travel. 

Lindsey first joined the Honors College at KSU in 2012 where she pursued an undergraduate degree in History. During her tenure at KSU, Lindsey participated in two study abroad programs: Montepulciano, Italy and Oxford, England. 

Lindsey is currently attending graduate school at King's College in London, England where she is studying Early Modern History. In the future, Lindsey plans to pursue a Ph.D and utilize her degrees to teach college courses focusing on international travel. 
Honors Program 20th Anniversary Lecture Recap: Natasha Trethewey Visits KSU

On January 24th, Pulitzer Prize-winning Poet, Natasha Trethewey, visited Kennesaw State University for a special lecture commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the KSU Honors Program.


In 2007, Trethewey was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in poetry for her collection of poems, Native Guard, which focused on her mother's abrupt passing. In 2012, she was named Poet Laureate of the state of Mississippi and the 19th Poet Laureate of the United States.

Trethewey wowed students, faculty members, and members of the surrounding community with a poetry reading and her perspective on growing up biracial in the south. A reception followed the event where those in attendance were able to meet Trethewey for a book signing and photo op.
