New Helpful Career Cruising Documents For Educators

Career Cruising has released two documents that support educators in their use of the program. While not Inspire-specific, the documents will help schools plan how they use the Career Cruising tools overall.

The first takes a look at best practices and suggested use around the implementation of Career Cruising at each grade level from 6-12.

CC Scope and Consequences  includes:

  • Grade-by-grade activity suggestions for 6-12, with a short description and approximate timing
  • Activities grouped by theme (Self-Awareness, Career Exploration, Education Planning, Portfolio Development, and Financial Literacy and Life Skills)
  • A "Go Deeper" column with additional suggestions that build on program activities
  • A section for The Real Game/Be Real Game

The second document looks at Career Cruising Alignment to ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success.

This document correlates ASCA standards to embedded activities in Career Cruising. While not specifically focused on Inspire, it is a good resource to increase usage of Career Cruising in middle and high school (6-12). The document is linked here: Career Cruising Alignment to ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors
Career Coach Message Board Highlight: Bricklayer/Stonemason

Student Question:

Where should I go to school for this?

Career Coach Answer:

Weston - Glad to hear that you're interested in getting into the trades. The best way to get into the bricklayer/stonemason trade would be to get into the apprenticeship program after High School. There are two guys that are in charge of the Fond Du Lac region. Randy Weytens - _______@ aol.com and Wynn Jones - _______@ sbcglobal.net. You should get in contact with them to see what you need to accomplish during High School to enter the apprentice program. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions. Sean
How to Record Experiential Learning Activities? We've Got Options

It's critical to Inspire Madison Region's success that all Experiential Learning Activities (ELAs) that students and/or educators participate in are recorded in Career Cruising. This data will help us learn how schools and businesses are using Inspire to connect. Data on your school's student and educator business engagement through Inspire may be important to you as well.

Career Cruising provides a workflow for requesting, confirming and recording ELAs from start to finish. However, we realize that sometimes an ELA is scheduled outside of the program. Thankfully there is still a way to record that ELA in Career Cruising. This can be done by any educator with access to a Career Cruising Career Advisor Management System (CAMS) account. Simply log in to your CAMS account and click on the Inspire Tab à Manage Requests à Record a Request at the top right. Fill out the fields provided and the activity will automatically be recorded in confirmed status and will be captured in your monthly report. Please see screenshot above.

Educators can be online career coach too!
